7:21 I don’t remember the first keyboard I had from an actual computer but I remember that it was a Windows 98 machines that eventually upgraded to XP. I don’t remember if the keyboard was from Compaq or Gateway/HP. It was a fully-featured desktop PC (that came with a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and speakers). Also, I don’t mind the “bezel” look of the Air75. I prefer it over the Keychron “borderless” style.

@ThatMarkGilroy
@ThatMarkGilroy 10 ай бұрын
Thanks buddy. Wisteria or Brown are your best bet for the quietest switches. If you're going for the V2 and you go with Wisteria switches you can expect it to be even quieter than the V1 set I show in this video as you'll have the benefit of the added dampening in the V2 board too. It's worth noting I tested this on my deskmat so that has absorbed some of the sound.

@ThatMarkGilroy quick question for you, does the backlight of the black V2 match the brightness levels of the V1. I received the black V2 from the discord giveaway and while comparing the backlight to that of the V1, I noticed that the black V2 at max brightness is only comparable to the level one brightness of the V1. Others on the discord channel report then ionic white V2 to be brighter than the V1.
@ThatMarkGilroy
@ThatMarkGilroy 10 ай бұрын
I think they’d be right - I have the ionic white Air 96 and it seems brighter than this. The key (!) difference is that I wasn’t able to test the shinethrough keycaps- these should level the playing field if you prefer the darker look of the basalt black option.
@gousheeg798
@gousheeg798 10 ай бұрын
@@ThatMarkGilroy thanks for checking, I get that black absorbs light and it could be a reason why the keyboard looks dimmer but then comparing just the sidelights of the V1 and V2 shows the V2 is much dimmer so I was concerned if it’s a manufacturing issue. Hopefully the shine through caps help. Cheers

Hi! There’s a comparison table right at the bottom of the Nuphy product page (linked in description). It’s not just the plate that’s new in the board makeup. The board has PCB IXPE plus silicone under the space bar which does give it quite a different feel to type on and sound absorption compared to V1. If you have the V1 switches you’ll also notice a difference as the 2.0 switches have different springs and are pre lubed. But, if you’re just after the new switches, you can buy a new set for the V1.

I have the v1 of the Air75, wireless performance sucks. How’s the v2? Does it disconnect frequently?

Wireless as in Bluetooth or 2.4G? Not had any issues with V2 via either.

@@ThatMarkGilroy both. I’m using the v1 now in wired mode. Wireless (both types) do not work well with the v1.

This review also does not mention that v2 no longer has the globe/apple fn key. For many mac users, it is a deal breaker.

Pretty sure Version 1 of the Air75 never had this key either? And with VIA you can remap any of the other keys to perform the globe/apple FN key command.

@@ThatMarkGilroy Not sure what happens to my first reply. air75 v1's fn key is the globe key. v2 is using qmk, so it loose the globe key. The reason behind this is complicated. Simply put, qmk does not support globe key. There does exist a patch that adds apple fn key support but it will not work when using bluetooth and it also requires the user to build the firmware, which may not be easy for non-developers .

@@Leviathan-fu2sx hmmm. Thats annoying. I think Mac settings there’s a way to remap this in the OS. Let me look into it!

@@ThatMarkGilroy Yes, you can use the capslock as the globe key but it is far from ideal because then you loose the capslock. The only option left is to use some third-party key mapping software like karbiner. But it needs to install its kernel modules, which personally I do not like. For nuphy, I guess 2.4g may/should work with the patched qmk firmware though.

I still feel the Keychron K8 Pro is much better, especially if you’re macOS/Apple-only.

The Nuphy console (windows only) is being phased out. This is VIA compatible (and presumably future Nuphy products) will be), so you’re good for Mac & Linux as well as Windows.

DO NOT BUY THESE! Buy the LoFree Flow. It is INCREDIBLE!!! I have the dark grey Tactile version. Flawless. Truly no complaints. I work at a desk for 8 hours a day with AWS and love it for just that. I use my high profile custom boards at house for gaming though. LoFree 4 ever.

@@Kaylas1821 50ms!? I do not know where you got that from but that is not the case with mine. Solid feedback with typing. The entire board feels premium. Not a single component or piece of material looks or feels gaudy. The only thing that I can imagine being a complaint are silly things like "I dont like how the feet are fixed" or "other keyboards have a 3 week battery life instead of 1."

@@cryptik_official from one of the tests. Sadly modern reviewers ignore some important technical details and tests, so no other tests to confirm that. This input lag number forced me towards the nuphy air v2 instead of the Lofree Flow.
