I hate that so few keyboards are available in the UK ISO layout. I mean I understand why but I just wish more were available without custom building it. Otherwise I'd get one of these in a heartbeat.

During your typing tests, keyboard nerds like when you tap the space bar repeatedly as you move your finger from one side of it to the other. It's good to hear how the space bar reacts to being pressed at different positions along it. Just a heads up if you keep doing keyboard reviews. :)

Great video. Mechanical keyboards are like linux distros for me: I can never settle on just one, either brand or switches. I love my original Air75 but I do love the 8bitDo one as well. The only ones that rub me the wrong way are the higher-profile keyboards. How on Earth did we use those back in the 80s?

You might think it's silly but the fact that it fits on top of a 14" Mac sold it for me. I've a tight enough desk setup so that it's worth it

For mechanical keyboards, it's better to get an ANSI layout rather than an ISO layout. It has many more keycap options. Overall better compatibility to the accessory.

I might keep an eye out for the full size version if it comes out. But these keyboards are so borderline heirloom in longevity, i still have basically no good reason to replace my custom maxkeyboards board, its almost 15 years old and still looks and feels as good as new. Mechanical switches are truly no joke in their durability.

I had my old mechanical keyboard until i managed to snap the cable . . . Probably 10+ years and only changed it because it looked old and outdated. If i'd replace the cable it would probably gone for 10 more years easily

Two things: They have announced that the air96v2 is in the works. But more importantly... most of the new things they added to the v2 of the air75 already existed on the air96v1! I'm actually typing on it right now and it is an incredible board for portable use.

I'm in Europe, and actually the ANSI layout makes a lot more sense to me, and it's not hard to get used to. Also, the ISO layout is messed up in a sense that different manufacturers create their own versions of it (it starts with an L and ends with ogitech). I've never understood the weird shaped Enter key in the ISO layout... what makes that key so special that it needs to occupy two rows? :)

completely hooked on this form factor, I use a Redragon K652, which visually, is an almost exact clone of the Nuphy, have you used that one? any comments on the comparison between the Nuphy and a clone that costs half as much, or less, depending on sales? going back to full height would be tough.

I'm personally always interested in new keyboards, but I tend to stay a long time with one I truly feel at home with. It mostly comes down to the comfort/speed of typing, sound is rather an added bonus for me. In the 90s, I had an Apple Extended Keyboard II with Alps Cream switches, and I used that for more than a decade. At some point I switched to notebooks exclusively, so it got stowed away - and somehow left behind after moving at least two times. About 5 years ago, I asked the boss of the Apple reseller chain I work for, whether we had any of those anywhere that we weren't using. And to my utter astonishment, he said: "We have about 3 or 4 completely new ones in our oldest store." So I bought one of those. It really looks out of place with any new computers, and it requires an USB to ADB dongle (which luckily I have), which adds bulk to the bulk. I've recently bought a Keychron K4 v2 with Gateron Red switches, and luckily felt at home with it the first day. But of course I'll keep the old Apple keyboard packaged and on a shelf, so I'll definitely see it, should I ever move again.

I recommend the v2 over the v1 because of the qmk/via customization. Russ you're going to love the infinite things you can do with this new keyboard. You can program your keyboard to launch certain apps and open your web browser to exactly where you need with a simple click of button. You can have your workflow automatically start or stop with another button. Know those complete bundle of key combinations to get something done. Guess what you can do that with just another button. One of the nicest things is that you can use the same keyboard to do the same action on different computers. You can have different layouts for gaming and work. So click a button youre all set up for gamiing. Know how sometimes the keyboard shortcuts for a game is complex. You can use via to program it the way you want it. It just crazy the shear amount of customizaton you can do with qmk. Just like what you did for emulation you can do for keyboard setup. For a lot of people there is an arguemet needing a numpad / arrow keys. With qmk you can see how you quickly access these functions without leaving the home row. The skys the limit in what you can do and there is a lot to dig into what qmk setup does what.

I just bought the Nuphy Air75v2 with the 20% off summer sale. Almost bought the Air60v2 instead because I prefer smaller keyboards, but the 75v2 has 50% better battery life. I wish Nuphy would just make an Air60 with a 5,000mAh+ battery for 300+ hours battery life (heck I'd take 10,000mAh and 600 hours if they can do it).

Excellent video, mate! My Air75v2 was delivered about a week ago. It's my second Nuphy keyboard. I tried the Air60, but it was a disappointment. It had all kinds of trouble such as lots of double typing or skipping in wireless mode. I also disliked the magnetic feet. Nuphy was great about issuing a quick refund. They didn't even want me to return the keyboard. I'm very pleased to report a much more satisfying experience with the Air75v2. It's an outstanding keyboard that eliminated all my complaints with the Air60. I still get the occasional double typed letter, but it in no way detracts from my appreciation of the keyboard as a whole. I'd recommend it over any competing keyboard from Keychron or Logitech.

I find it so frustrating that mechanical keyboard reviews spend so much time laser focused on the sound the keyboard makes and barely give a quip about how it feels. I want to know if this is a good cheap alternative to buying a 2nd razer deathstalker v2 pro, i don't give a single salty f about the sound the keyboard makes the only thing is the feel and force. It got like 10s of focus in this whole review.

as a person grows up using Azerty ISO. I don't recommend it because the left shift was so short to me. I'm using it a lot, and it's not comfortable at all to type in both French and Arabic. ANSI is amazing, especially with Arabic; I can easily use all sub-characters with the shift key without using the caps lock. the enter still annoying but its OK for use the numpad enter more.

Hi I just grabbed the are 60 V 2 and I'm wondering if the Air 75 is a little less cramped for typing. I originally got the 60 bc as I understood it is the same key size position and alpha layout size minus function keys which I am fine doing without. Maybe I just need to get used to it. But does the 75 have any advantage for a desktop keyboard as I don't plan to be portable with either. Or is the 60 the same typing experience. I do really like the key feel with brown switches just not sure yet about key placement

I'm a Mac user with the Nuphy Air75 v1. I went back to Apple's Magic Keyboard for two reasons. First Touch ID, it's really convenient when dealing with credential prompts. But the biggest reason I switched back was the slow wake of this keyboard when used via Bluetooth. Hitting my spacebar to wake my Mac and realizing that press only woke up the keyboard, then in another 2 secs it's finally functioning so I can finally wake my Mac by pressing a key again was just too annoying.

Unfortunately my options are super limited as I live in Japan and use Japanese for work so JIS layout is absolutely essential. There aren't many fun JIS keyboards out there, so I just grabbed the TKL Keychron K8 Pro with red switches. It has been great, the build is a million times better than standard issue Filcos.

So with RGB it lasts about a week and without it about 220h - I get why you phrased it like that with the information you have, but it is really not ideal to compare two values with different units like this. Especially because something like "a week" is often associated with "a working week while using it for three hours a day", not necessarily 168 hours. But besides me not really liking anything below 100%, no iso layout is always a killer for me, as someone used to iso-de using ansi is a pain in the arse.

Really hoping they eventually allow you the option to swap out the default keycaps when purchasing instead of having to get different keycaps as an add on when buying the keyboard. Kind of sucks to have to spend the extra money when I already know I prefer the different keycaps and will never use the default caps, it's a waste of both materials and money. They already allow you to pick the switches you want as standard, why not the keycaps?

For me, the best lighting is plain white, no flashing. I would enjoy though if the keyboard could automatically dim it according to the ambient light, and if it can change colors for specific keys, like make all modifier keys less bright than the alphanumeric. All these flashy colors on the other hand are only good for kids and I don't appreciate models which have that. Even worse when you have it enabled by default and need to learn how switch it off before you can do anything with the keyboard.
