I ordered my Gem80 after seeing your review on it. I waited almost a month for it to arrive. I went with the black board with stock keycaps and their silent switches. After about an hour of very careful and excited building session I now have an amazing keyboard! I have now been using it for about 2 weeks and I couldn’t be more pleased with my purchase!

Is this still the case? Do you still like it? I'm considering it too but there's no way for me to try it in person, and returns aren't easy either, so it's a shot in the dark

@@alex__13 Absolutely! This keyboard is build with amazing quality. It doesn’t rattle, have stem wobble or stabilizer issues. The wireless connection is very good (thanks to the PCB underside) and the aluminum top gives it a great look. The silent switches they offer are formidable for the price! I make setups and PCs for my friends and I still recommend this keyboard for those who want to treat themselves. 👍

@@alex__13 I have been using Gem80 for about 5-6 months. Before that I used Leobog Hi 75, Keychrone K8/K3, and to be honest, the best keyboard up to that point was Leobog. Even after I got Gem80, Leobog was still on first place. But I couldn't accept the fact that Gem80 costs 3 times more than Leobog, but at the same time sounds worse, so I started experimenting with customization: I tried several types of switches, including NuPhy Lemon, Gateron Silver, several types of Silent switches, Gateron Red V1 I also tried various combinations WITH and WITHOUT noise insulation layers, but in the end I found the perfect combination for myself with Gateron Red V2, completely lubricated, fully relubricated stabilizers and also swapped 2 layers of noise insulation under the PCB. As a result, I got a very noble, dense and quiet sound that does not get boring during long typing. I enjoy it every day and absolutely recommend this keyboard

I personally really like the keycaps on the Q Max series. Super comfy to type on and have a nice deep sound to them. They remind me of the keycaps they used to put on older keyboards from the past.

As someone experiences the same option paralysis with keyboards that I do with my guitar amp options, the q3 max is the choice for me! Especially coming from an almost 10 year old G810 which has been my only real venture into actual keyboards. The option to hot swap switches etc is all I need and it is GREAT out of the box (with the brown switches per my preference). Excellent deep dive, really appreciate the video, though I am admittedly late to the party.

Hey, what are your thoughts on the Nuphy Halo V2? The specs were just announced, I’m looking to pre-order.
@laughyourashevilleoff25468 ай бұрын
I ended up getting the Gem80, personally. It's not even for me, I'm building one for my girlfriend, but I wanted as many options as possible so I can build it to her liking, and the Gem80 is clearly the way to go for that.

Another great review/comparison video, thanks. I'm very tempted to get the Gem 80. I have the Nuphy Air96 but struggle with its arrow keys not being better spaced out which makes me mis-type often. Looks like the Gem 80 would solve that problem.

Do you have any tips for people who want to hear the bottom out or other clack noises as little as possible? I have been using Haimu Heartbeats, and they're pretty good.

I have both and much prefer the Q3 max, it feels and sounds amazing out of the box. The key caps are much better, it just feels more premium.

The only thing really steering me away from the Gem80 is the clip-in stabs and the lack of a knob. The knob is not a complete deal breaker but everyone I know who's modded a Gem80 has complained a lot about the stabilisers.
@semiprotech3 ай бұрын
I replaced the plate-mount stabilizers in mine with a set of Durocks and it was an improvement. Still not as nice as Durock V2/3 PCB-mounted that I usually use but better than the stock ones.
@blackie753 ай бұрын
@@semiprotech I ended up grabbing the Q1 Max, but something tells me that I'll probably still get the Gem80 down the track and when that happens I'll certainly take your advice on the Durocks. Cheers 😉

I've heard that Keychron Max will get ISO within a few months. Unfortunatly they skipped the Special Edition style when they went from Pro to Max. I liked the big nobb and the four programmable buttons on the left side. They will only have it on the Q65 Max Special Edition. ISO is out now. Some countries refuse to get the Banana switches. Kinda evil.

@Hugo-ek3ow3 ай бұрын
@@opti2k4 the gem80 it’s perfect overall, doesn’t need any mod. In other hand, I like more the kSA keycaps, banana switches and the feeling writing in Q3 Max, it feels like the old legendary legendary keyboard from the 80-90’s but there is a metallic sound that I would like to remove. If I remove the metallic sound I would prefer the Q3 Max. Some say to change the stabilizers and cork mat to fix it but didn’t try yet

You need to try the Qwertykeys Neo80. I have a Q1 Pro, Q2 and K8 Pro and a blue GEM80 that I bought with their raspberry switches, and keycaps. While I do have the GEM80 now on my Mac Studio, it replaced my Q1 Pro there, the Neo80 is phenomenal. The Nuphy is great but the Neo pulls out the win IMHO. While we have 4 Keychron boards that I'm sure will last forever, its more difficult for me to get a sound I like from them, even with their acoustic upgrade kits. I still haven't really modded the Gem80, I do have Akko Cream Black pros as the nuphy were too light and GMK Striker caps on it but still using all the stock foam and FR4 (purchased the POM plate as well) because the sound is great. That being said the Neo80 sounds better with their stock foams, WS Heavy Tactiles and GMK cap it's like a poppy thock if that makes sense. I just love it! If you get a chance to try the Neo80, I would definitely encourage it. Really loving all of your new content!

it sounds like this guy just tries so hard to favor nuphy. i have both gem and q max, but I don’t make money for comparing them😂. Let me help translate some his opinions, first of all, if you need any layout other than 80, choose q max. Q max is full metal, which just gives you more premium look and feeling. no it doesn’t negatively affect sound or typing. switches are very subjective. for keycaps, q max has double pbt keycaps, and grainy texture which is way better than nuphy.
@khaledmohamed_8 ай бұрын
Definitely got the same vibe. Anything subjective, he leans towards Nuphy

My favorite keychton is V4, so I’m not sure I agree with a statement that metal makes something more premium: maybe just makes more resonance. Q* Max is a skyscraper, not sure how to use it and why they built it this way
