The battery is actually very good in my experience; however, I don't use a lot of RGB lighting. Another drawback of this keyboard is that it has a low-frequency PWM that causes LED flickering, and it's even visible if you dial down the animation speed. Some people may even get headaches.

FYI! Nuphy console is NOT coming for the Mac. In discord they stated that the current SOC doesn’t support Mac. They will release a v2 by the end of the year. Great review!

Great, helpful review. I have the Air 96 and though it's great to use, I still struggle to find the arrow keys sometimes which is frustrating. I may be tempted to get the Gem 80 which does have spacing around those keys but it's more expensive.

Really appreciate the review- I just ordered the Halo75 (over the Keychron Q1) with G red switches, it's just more feature packed and the 2.4Ghz connection is such a nice feature to have. That said, the biggest bummer is the lack of software from NuPhy to remap keys + macros. Overall, great review, I cannot wait to start typing on mine! ^_^

Great video, thinking of switching to the Halo75 from Keychron K2. Although I have one unknown, which is: switches. What is the difference or which one should I get: brown, rose glacier, night breeze?

Hi! Brown and rose glacier are both tactile switches, while night breeze is linear. If you prefer to feel some tactile feedback while typing, then the tactile options may be a better fit. The night breeze is a great linear switch if you don't prefer to have the tactile feedback on each key press. Between the brown and rose glacier, the brown is a more gentle tactile bump with a little bit less force required compared to the rose glacier. Rose glacier is a sharper, more "snappy" tactile bump. I hope that helps!

Ive got the Air75 with shine through. How does the Air75 compare to Halo75? ... Do you need a palm rest for the Halo75

I would suggest using a palm rest with the Halo75 unless you sit in an elevated position with your arms/wrists hovering over the keyboard because the height difference of high vs. low profile is pretty significant. In terms of features, they are very similar - same connectivity, same NuPhy Console. For RGBs you have a bit more with the Halo vs Air. It's also generally a bit easier to find shine-through keycaps for high profile keyboards if you want that, and there is an endless number of switch options if you want to try different ones. Typing feel-wise, really depends on the switches that you get but most will be a bit more travel than low profile (generally 4.0mm) though some like the Night Breeze are shorter travel which can make it easier to type faster. Sound wise...I personally love the sound of the Halo series and high profile keyboards in general, but sound is super subjective. Other than those things it's pretty much going to come down to preference on typing position and feel. When I first started using high-profile (after spending years using membrane keyboards), I immediately enjoyed it but also took a while to get used to the position and travel to get back to my normal speed & accuracy.

There's not an option to buy it with shine-through keycaps, but NuPhy does offer a set of ABS black shine-through keycaps for separate purchase, and of course there are others on the market as well. I personally think no matter what they do, they're going to have a percentage of the customer base say "it should be sold with shine-through keycaps" and if they did, some people would say "I don't like all the light I wish it had regular keycaps"...so either way, some percentage of people would have to buy separate keycaps to make it fit their preferences. I don't know what that split would be though...so it's possible more people would prefer shine-through than not.

XDA keycaps will fit on the Halo75 and you can leave the ghostbar on, but it might be a little tall in front of the second row. I believe XDA height is 9 - 9.5mm and the space bar of the KOP/OEM profile I think is 10-11mm at the front. If that difference doesn't bother you then it should work. They also sell the ghostbar in cherry profile separately if you wanted a closer match to the XDA height.

Imo u don’t even need to mod the space bar at all as for the switches they are amazing and I would 100000% recommend it as you can’t build one that’s better for that price tag. Ps it’s also heavy and rigid and has slight flex. Personal rating is 9/10 for me cuz I wanted night breeze switches but they were not in stock other then that its a 10/10

I haven't heard anything from NuPhy or seen it in the discord yet, but I'm personally wondering if a V2 of the Halo line might be coming early in 2024 since they just completed the refresh of the Air series....I assume they'll be bringing QMK and improved wireless polling rates to the Halo boards as well (I could be wrong of course). If those aren't big for you then it won't matter but just thought I would mention.

How are the stabilizers on the NuPhy? I own a Q1 V2 and my issue with it is the stabilizers and stabilized keys sound horrendous -- lots of audible rattle and ticking even after taking the board apart and re-lubing the stabs. I'm looking for another prebuilt board as a result (ideally with great stabilized keys). Thanks!

None of the switch options are especially heavy - out of the options available, the Rose Glacier (tactile) and the Baby Raccoon (linear) are the heaviest. To me the Rose Glacier feels like the heaviest overall, but if you prefer linear, you may need to swap to something else if you're looking for over 60g of force. I like the Baby Raccoons but they're not what I would call stiff/heavy - gateron reds and Night Breeze are both a little bit lighter.

The wired connection would be your best bet for gaming with a good enough polling rate on the Halo series. NuPhy upgraded the polling rates on the Field75 and just upgraded both the 2.4GHz and wired polling rates on the Air75 V2 (1,000Hz for both), but the Halo series still have a polling rate of 500Hz for 2.4GHz and 1,000Hz for wired. In testing, rtings.com also found the Halo75 had a bottleneck in the hardware allowing only an effective transmission rate of 250Hz for 2.4GHz and 333Hz for wired. I don't do much gaming, but in casual games I did not find any problem with my Halo75 or Halo96. I think for competitive gaming where reaction times are critical, you would likely notice the difference between the Halo and a gaming keyboard.
