For people who don't understand what this guy is doing he balances the ecosystem, there are not too many predators that can eat lion fish in that place, so they are overpopulated, and if there are no animals that can control their population it is human's job to control it, and if you say "Let nature do its work" you're definitely wrong because humans are also part of nature, we also play a role in ecosystems like this, why would humans be created if there is no function
@i.i.iiii.i.i2 жыл бұрын
You miss the part where humans only need to intervene when humans introduced new species or when humans killed all natural predators lol
@R.Oates7902 Жыл бұрын
Humans function is to do what the diver is doing. Taking care of the Earth. 🌍
@baronaarondewit116811 ай бұрын
I both agree and disagree if we are a part of nature we should have some sort of predator hunting only us but no were the most destructive species on the planet but with our knowledge i do believe that yes we can change that and we can play our role in the eco system
@zanaros260612 күн бұрын
It's not that there are no animals that can control their population, it's just that Nature's balancing usually takes a very very very long time, following its own sense of timing which humans might perceive as a "failure" to balance. Humans can expedite this process...but their knowledge is not 100% perfect, so every now and then even human beings can mess up at times in their attempts to "balance" things. Humans have the potential to nurture and safeguard nature, but also to completely destroy the entire planet's atmosphere and ecosystem. So we are in a sense above the nature's balance. Because Freewill is above Nature's instincts and balance.

@ahmedrizk3004 жыл бұрын
Depends on how much your people eat them, and how much your bag can take. The thing with lionfish in particular is that they're very much like sargos in that they hate open water, they basically stick to the rocks and coral reefs, as you saw, so you cannot commercially fish them without destroying the reef/rocks, and even the least environmentally friendly fisherman knows that's just signing a death-wish for the fish population. It's why so many of these videos are people harpoon-fishing for them; it's the most efficient way. They're also fish-able by rod, but most people don't like them because taking them off the hook is a pain, not to mention the potential poisoning because the spikes and the endless hooks they'd lose in the rocks... In any case, where I'm from, they're often consumed often enough, mostly because they're cheap, the issue is that cleaning them takes a bit of time compared to other, more delicious fish, but since we're a big population, they're consumed often enough. I suppose the only way to deal with them in the USA would be by paying lots of money for people to harpoon them. That should get the ball rolling, maybe it could even alleviate the stress off commercial fish.

That's an incredible encounter you had with a shark. May sound strange but I'd kill to get that close with a shark in one of my dives

You can dive in a creek surrounded by dozens of nurse sharks in South West rock Australia. (Actually got a video of the place) Costa Rica is a good place for bullshark Bahamas for tiger and lemon shark Otherwise it's not uncommon to see shark in tropical area although not a guarantee

Small question, does the flashlight being red have to do with anything?
@Halo567822 жыл бұрын
If I had to guess it limits the wavelength of the light so it doesn't startle the fish while hunting. My grandfather said they did something similar with their flashlights in Vietnam so the light wouldn't go as far and alert any enemies father away

Those reefs look so bare. I bet it was thriving 50 or so years ago

You got the spiny lobsters without a gauge I’m pretty sure that’s a write up or a revoking of your fishing license? Otherwise this was kinda fun to watch.
@paulcardone4816 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and your comments. We always dive with a gauge on our gear and measure the ones we aren’t sure have a 3in carapace. We also have an official captain Vans 8 in 1 shellfish gauge that is certified to be 3 inches unlike the plastic and aluminum ones commonly found in dive shops. I believe the state FWC and coast guard use the same measuring device we do.
