Because nursing is synonymous with healthcare. You can be anything from an LPN passing PO meds in a nursing home all the way up to a Ph.D. who was the interim surgeon general of the United States.

I agree with the dress code idea. Although I am super into fashion when I go to work I really don’t want to think about what I have to wear. I leave the slaying for outside the hospital.

I love what I do. I’ve been an RN for 5 years and prior to that an LPN for 15. I did the LPN route first because I didn’t know if I could go straight for my RN. My daughter was 3, and it was a sacrifice, but I always had flexibility with my schedule with raising my kids. I later completed my RN in 2013 and LOVE what I do. It is very hard work, but I can’t imagine doing anything different. I’m on my way towards my BSN then CRNA if life allows, if not I’ll complete NP. I just have to see that I can save and afford school so it doesn’t hurt me with student loans. My husband admires the field so much, he just completed ADN program passed his boards and is currently working as a second career at the age of 50. He loves what he does and never thought he would be a nurse, it’s hysterical watching him put on his man-ly compression socks. Thank you so much for your videos, your journey is so inspiring. Thank you.

I 100% agree with this list! The most important part to me is the option and opportunity for higher education with the promise of job security at the end. So many people pursue their masters/doctorate and then have trouble finding jobs that pay in correlation to their level of education. So they end up underpaid and bitter. Nursing, the sky is the limit and no decision is permanent! Great video. Sharing to all who are on the fence about nursing school.

I'm a nursing student now and I just want to share my reasons here, I wish I could say it was some kind of higher calling, but I just wanted a job security and a line of work where I could interact with people and see the results of my work every single day, nursing turned out to be the best choice, a job presenting me an intellectual challenges requiring critical thinking and human interaction on daily basis , professionally and personally rewarding work.

Nursing is the most safe and always increasing reward. The hospital experience leads to your higher salary. Nursing is the most trusted and respected profession all over the world. I am perceiving my bachelor's in this. Being a student nurse, i realised that the percentage of nurses in each country is lacking. Nurses are always job secured, the all mentions done by you are truly commendable. Yes we get less salary in the beginning, but it is not false that our salary increases with our experience. Thank you so much mam. Your words has hit the hearts of thousands nurses who are going to make a real change in the people lives. Love 💕 u so much

I have been a Pediatric nurse for 30 years. and yes talk about variety I've done it all. full circle at 61 years of age in back to bedside nursing on a general peds unite. I have survived many economic recessions and crises and never been out of work. "thank you MOM'" My mom is who talked me into going into nursing. In high school, I would have laughed out loud at the idea me ALL BOY going into nursing. It is a very rewarding profession. You mentioned trust. I think trust is the biggest thing we deal with. God has entrusted me to take care of our most precious commodity our children as their life may hang in the balance, we are trusted to even up the odds of their survival. My gift back to God is to do the very best that I can do at my job.

I’m in the process of making a career change to nursing and have been very nervous about it but every time I watch one of your videos it seems like the best decision in the world. These are great reasons and I definitely think the travel nurse option is magnifico. I'd be interested in seeing a list of reasons males go into the nursing field. I completely agree! I think nursing is an awesome career! I am currently a nursing student in my last year of nursing school and I am also a nurse intern. I think you've pretty much highlighted the major reasons why nursing is a great field. I personally love that I have 4 days off! I only work three 12-hour shifts a week and I love that. Great video! I actually would like to hear you talk about some of the cons of nursing or just things you don't like about it. I personally do not like how at my hospital, nurses are limited to what we can wear. We can only wear certain types of scrubs and certain colors. This isn't too big of a deal, but it's just something I'm not a big fan of. What are some things you don't like about nursing?

Is it meaningful to be abused and overworked? Who doesn't love helping people? But let's get real. Big healthcare treats us like commodities and machines. Big health care no longer sees nurses as sentient human beings with feelings and physical needs. I honestly cannot remember the last time anybody in management or otherwise ever came and made sure we were getting a break. A 12-hour shift and we are happy if we get a 30 minute break? It's now considered a privilege to get a break. So sick and terrible and evil and sad what is happening with healthcare. It is corrupt beyond imagination and it is all about money. 31 years as a nurse and I can remember when it was rewarding when it was better. It's only gotten worse and continues to get worse. Everybody knows it. I don't know of one nurse who is happy and loves their job. Why do you think people are moving around to get the travel money? We are being squeezed until every last drop of blood and sweat is given to the corporation.
