There were several concerns regarding that assessment. #1 Was she was in a skilled care facility or hospital? #2 if in a skilled care facility and the "resident" said that she was in pain when they attempted to move her, they should have stopped their attempt and asked her to tell them where the pain was located as pain is always an indicator of a "possible fracture" when a fall is indicated. if so they would call 911 and let the paraments move her as to not cause any further possible injury. #3 the lights should have been turned OFF when the student nurse did her pupil assessment to correctly "gauge pupil size". #4 they didn't use a gait, which they should have when getting her off the floor. Never attempt getting a resident up off of the floor by lifting them up with your hands under their arm pits, which can result in injury to the resident and the person doing the lifting. #5 when she said that her head hurt, they should have checked her head for bruising, hematoma, bleeding b4 getting her up. There was probably more concerns that could have been listed but I didn't continue viewing.

Wow if nursing students don't v take advantage of these videos they are crazy. These are fantastic learning tools. I would have loved them when I was a student. I'm so jealous I wish I had these to watch . They are so precise and detailed. Great job.

What should we do should we call 911. In a hospital?
@letsusbreakitdown32223 жыл бұрын
Good job calling the doctor, maybe a little sooner with calling the doctor to get those orders going, good job asking for pain to rule out cspine injuries, what about Blood thinners?, why did she fall and get dizzy orthostatic, diabetic, EKG maybe?, medical hx? someone should be looking through her chart or someone familiar with this patient should be answering questions, overall a good video and common sense answers a lot of these questions. good job!

Shouldn’t you start Neuro Checks since the fall is “unwitnessed” & the pt. hit her head?? Q15 min, Q 30 min, q 1 hr. etc. How about LOC & ROM checks?

They are they moving an injured person. How did she fall. Why Is all this is necessary .she wasnt wearing an alarm. They allowed her too much independence. Based on her illness and age. Uts 2020. Small alarms to start with .

I thank the real professionals who know what they are doing. My mother died from being dropped from a Hoyer Lift, suffered internal bleeding, broken ribs at 95. Do you think that was witnessed. Please read court cases for explanations of accidents which are covered up. The hospital or institution is either understaffed or untrained with equipment.
@jaymorgan. Жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that. Falling from a Hoyer lift definitely should have been witnessed since it requires two person transfers. I also had a nursing home cover up my mother’s injuries.

I believe all patients without relatives by their hospital bed side, should not be leave alone in their room by nurses. One nurse should be there to guide and watch over 24/7 until relatives come over to take care of them. We Filipinos, always have relatives watching over our sick family member in the hospital. No one leaves our sick loved one. At least one to stay by the sick 24/7. In a case of going to the bathroom, we are there to guide our sick loved one when nurses and doctor are away. However, if a person is living alone and no relatives or family to support them, a nurse or care giver should not leave a sick person alone in the room. So something like this won't get to happen. If something bad happened to this sick person, hospital can be sued for negligence. Consider the fact that this sick lady won't get worst from a fall, you guys are or will be in big trouble.
