Actually all clamps should be clamped first before spiking anything, blood tubing has two clamps to spike which is what makes it specific to be used for giving blood.

Administering BLOOD TRANSFUSION should be carefully done. (if unsure, ask help). At night or on your free time, it's good to review. Having Trainings that makes the skills better is one of the best things. Wrong procedure is not acceptable in the law. "SAVE LIVES).

Yes it stays clamped. It's only there's to prone the line and push the remaining blood through one the infusion finishes.
