This depends on the patient monitors in the hospital you are in. This is specific for Dräger Infinity series of patient monitors. (Others might be Philips, Spacelabs, Mindray, Lifepak, or Zoll.)

If your going from the Lifepak 12 it will be quick to get used to my FD runs 2 Lifepak 12's on our engines and a Lifepak 15 on the ladder truck all the crew know how to use both and it was pretty easy to learn.

@@amtraktraveler9118 never used a Zoll do you like them much? I have seen they are cheaper than the lifepak we were thinking about one for the brush truck but we don’t know if there good for our use a fair bit of rappelling and rope operations. That’s where the lifepak kinda sucks is it’s size.

Respiratory measurements without capnography are usually derived from the EKG stickers.

I understand that you probably don't have a lot of say in the matter Dr Mellick, but why does your ED only utilize 3 lead monitoring as opposed to 4 or 5 lead monitoring? (I,II,III, plus aV leads with or without a modified chest lead?)

The 3 bipolar leads are best for basic uses like in ED. However for ICU and CARDIAC cases, 4 or 5 lead sets are preferred.

AFAIK finger choice doesn't affect it

I'm sure there is a recommendation however any finger will do. Ear lobes work well too, really anywhere with superficial vessels and thin skin works. ie fingers, ear lobes, or even the foot in infants and neonates.
