"Couldn't" isn't the right word, he trashed her and tried to finish her multiple times, but she kept getting saved. Once by Greyfax launching a psychic attack to stop his killing blow, and again by hordes of Guardsmen sent forth by Creed who literally just ran into his sword to protect her.

Prior to that, he had barely ever found a foe that he couldn’t easily crush. It stands to reason that he’s begun enjoying the loss and subsequent resurrection as much as winning

To me it's Kharn or Ahriman hands down, each were incredibly powerful individuals before any chaos gifts, Kharn was a captain and elevated to Angrons 2nd not for his Saavy but essentially as a battle bud, which has to put him among the best melee combatants of the Horus Heresy era that isn't a primarch then you add 10,000 years experience and 1 million + skulls, and a chaos god that would most likely prevent an opponent from obliterating him with psyker powers. Which means 1 on 1 in a duel he most likely comes out on top, for those who'd say Abbadon, Khorne might actually remove power from Abaddon if that was a showdown, and grant that to Kharn, potentially closing the gap on power levels and making it a 50/50 type duel.

The +10,000 years thing doesn't matter much. A Space Marine is pretty much pre-programmed with all of the physical and mental skills they need, and while experience is valuable in further honing them, Space Marines learn at a rate that's exponential. By the time they hit 1-2 centuries of service, they don't really get much better. There is a bigger difference from year 1 to year 10, than from year 100 to year 10,000. Plus, Kharn has forsaken any concept of learning, tactics, strategy, or honing of skills and just lets the Warp and the Nails run through him. Khorne wouldn't be able to "remove power from Abaddon." That isn't how Abaddon is powered. He hasn't embraced the gods AT ALL. In short, he has found a way to tap into the Warp without becoming their puppet, and that is something less than a handful of beings in the galaxy can do. He despises the Chaos gods, and wholly rejects the idea of demonhood; they know this, yet they keep supporting him as their champion. He knows that an inability to be in control means the same fate his father suffered. He still has his mind and free will, unlike most champions of Chaos. Khorne would absolutely not care if Kharn were killed because he doesn't care about any of his own champions, so long as the blood flows. Plus, he would just torture Kharn's soul for a while, mock him, then stitch him back together and throw him back into the galaxy to fight more. With Abaddon, all of the gods are in a binding pact with each other when it comes to their chosen Warmaster. They need Abaddon more than he needs them, or else they have no foothold in the mortal realm. In fact, even the Primarchs - the greatest champions of the gods - have been ordered to grant command to Abaddon when they are in the material realm. Nurgle didn't "strip power from Abaddon" when Mortarion disobeyed and attacked Ultramar, he punished Mortarion for not following Abaddon's crusade. Mortarion has been sentenced to the Garden ever since for an undetermined amount of time. Abaddon and Archaon parallel one another in many respects like this. The Chaos gods keep trying to pull them and sway them as they all have their own desires, and then try to have them executed when they won't yield. It keeps failing, yet they continue to offer them power. Kharn has become a slave to Khorne, so win or lose, Khorne will just toss him back into the fray at some point. Ultimately, he may be doomed to suffer some glorious demise, but in 1-on-1 pitched fights, Abaddon doesn't lose to any Astartes at this point. Loyalist or Traitor. It would take a Primarch or high-level Custodian to defeat him.

Do we know this for certain? All we know is that the emps reforged the demon into a sword and sent Ra scurrying away into the webway to hide it away. Next we know Abaddon has it after recovering the sword from a labyrinth. Granted there is a large portion of 40k books ive not read, ive not seen anything other then Abaddon recovered it, nothing about it serving him willingly.

@@LichLordKrull I like the idea of Abaddon being so arrogant that he thinks a really good sword in his hands is more tactically sound than having one of the single most powerful, not just deamons, but individual beings in the universe, being able to wound the Emperor, as a unit in his army, or even running free causing chaos to the emperium. It shows how full of himself he is, showing why he hasn’t won against the emperium, even after 10 thousand years.

You are taking a lot of stuff out of context for this ranking and overall some really bad takes. I would do more recerch. Just regarding Abaddon : he has been confirmed to not be a clone of horus. The actual clone of Horus was not a primarch level threat; he wasn't wearing armor and he was missing Horus's soul which gives primarchs the vast amount of their power. Sigismund was obscenely old when he was killed, even for a space marine. Abaddon was also extremely close to loosing even with his God teir sword, superior armor, and massive age advantage.

I'd bet on Abbadon. None are so valued by the Pantheon as he's the nexus of the fate of the Imperium, mankind, the entire galaxy. So much depends on him... and as he pledges himself chaos undivided he basically has the pantheon competing with each other to lend him power and gain influence over him and his decisions. I think Iskandar Khayon at the forefront of this list. I don't think most of these champions could touch him, his knowledge of the warp and mastery of chaos sorcery are on another level.
