Been using my Ironman watch 3 years for my lawncare business. I like the timer function to track my time on different jobsite's throughout day. Like they say: it takes a licking and keeps on ticking. I will buy another when needed.

I got a G-Shock GW-7900B, I like it because its water proof to 20Bar My SCUBA instructor explained watches waterproof ratings to me. Water resistance ratings: 10m-good for rain 30m-washing hands 50m-snorkling/swimming 100m-minimum for scuba, good to around probably 60+ feet 200m good for deep diving (non-decompression dives) This shows the flaws in the watch industry.

Currently, a Luminox Navy SEAL Colormark, Model 3067 (green). My sister bought it for me at my graduation. Unless I have to, I never take it off my wrist; it means so much to me and is EXTREMELY FUNCTIONAL. Before that, I always wore my Timex Expedition Camper, a cheapo that I wore for almost five years and is still ticking. I actually wore out the leather band ( I swam with it alot), and I just keep the time piece now. Both are wonderful watches that have served me well. Good review, as always.

When I graduated flight school in 2005 I quickly went out and bought a cool pilot watch with built in E6B. Know what I wear now? Timex Ironman, it just fits my needs just as good and if it breaks what am I out, $25-30 bucks? Like you said Nutn, mo money for ammo. Keep up the great work buddy!

Have worn this watch for years now. Almost every day since 2008. Had to buy one replacement due to my brother losing it in the woods once. Super inexpensive, accurate, tons of features and not too big or heavy. Love it. Only issue I've ever had with it is it will fog up after a couple dives below 100' (starting at sea level). This happened with both watches. Now I just dive without it. But for a mostly-dry watch that you don't care if it gets wet once in a while, this is it!

I personally have the Casio G-Shock atomic with the analog face and digital functions. I is a lot clunkier and heavier than you recommend for EDC but it is a great watch that also synchronizes with Daylight Savings time. I have thought about getting a slimmer watch for more winter wear that doesn't get hung up in my jacket/gloves.

I'm still wearing the old school G shock, and have been since I bought it in 1989 ;-) Been all over the world with me when I was still in the Army, survived countless years working on Tanks, and all the jobs that I have done since. Been back to the factory for an overhaul about 10 years ago. No I'm going to retire it. Thanks for the heads up on the Ironman :-)

My parents bought me an Ironman when I hit the sixth grade. I LOVED that watch. Easy to use, good-looking, comfy. I wore an Ironman until sometime in college, when I replaced it with an analog titanium Seiko. If I ever want to go digital again, the Ironman is waiting in the wings.

I use the Timex Ironman Triathlon 200M water resistant. Bought a new one during basic training 10 years ago and it has lasted through a tour in Iraq, water resistance also helps with dust resistance. The previous Iron man I had since i was 18 so that is still with me I just havent replaced the battery. great watch does what I need and as a scout in the military it had all the functions I needed. Only thing I wish I had was a set of analog hands for emergency navigation.

I used to have the Ironman. I always loved it until one day when the strap started cracking on me. Eventually it broke and now I am SOL because the bands could not be replaced. It was a molded in band. I kept the watch and still have it around someplace but my replacement watch is the Timex Expedition. It has a replaceable watch band but for me the cool thing is that it has a vibration feature for the alarm. That is what I use for my alarm clock.

Ive got a luminox model 3150. Easily the most durable watch I've ever had. It's been through sand, mud, and water. For me that one time cost is worth the reliability. It is also nice enough looking to wear on a date or for holidays, for me it truly is the perfect watch

That mode you entered was so you can push other non-dedicated buttons to light it up and it will stay on for a few seconds each time without holding the button. I've had three of those Ironman starting back in the mid 90s. All three were only retired due to band failure. I am no diver, but when I was wearing these, I almost never took them off. They were submerged often and even after changing the battery, they do reseal at least for my light underwater use. Thanks for the real world reviews.

That moon function you set was the indaglo function, when you shake the watch or you wrist with enough force it will cause the watch to light up, sort of like the gshock one where it lights up when you turn your wrist. but this one can be disabled or enabled, wish my gshock had that.

I have been sporting the ironman triathlon for about the past 6 years...once while i was working for our local AHL hockey team we were loading equipment bags underneath the team's bus. Apparently i rubbed my timex against something underneath the bus pretty hard because the strap broke off without me knowing. When i later realized, the team had already left. I contacted the other teams equipment manager and he kindly mailed my watch back, I got it fixed and wear it everyday, Awesome watch!

I like the Timex Ironman, NUTNFANCY, the black one looks good for casual wear and the orange one would be good for hiking and camping because of the color!!! Plus, for a $5000 watch I can get a lot of more important gear :-) Dont get me wrong I like the pricey ones too, as long as it fuctions, but for edc the durable timex, and gshocks are durable and comfortable

Nike actually makes some nice, low profile, streamline watches. They are mid-range priced I would say, running around $100 US, give or take. Nice durable construction and a decent amount of functionality. I had one about 5 years back and loved it then and I'm sure they have even more functions by now (as companies are wont to do). They have a wide range of colors also.

I saw my watch in the beginning, I've gotta give recommendation for it... The Casio G-Shock Touch Solar, mine is GW-M5600. It is solar charged, and atomic clocked from your local time zone. I have had it for three years and the battery still reads H for high, once it was M for medium and I left it sitting in the sun for a day, never been less than H since. I have changed the band for 11$ once and the bezel can be replaced, looks like a new watch again. mine was 80$. totally worth it!

i have an ironman shock, since in my country a cool watch is a burglar atractor, and i love it, they are more than reliable and easily replacable. but in hot weathers it can make the wrist a very sweaty place. love your reviews, if you want to dive with a timex there is the shock version that has the same resistance as the G-shock.

Liked the topic. I haven't worn a watch for years, but have been thinking lately I should take a look at what is out there. Hate bulky, thick watches. The Suunto Core is freaking awesome, but way too big. It's like a Flava-Flav clock on my wrist. Thanks Nutn for the watch-talk.

I've had a couple G-Shocks when I was a kid, and they both broke. Now I use the Ironman watches, and really like them, for the most part.. Wore my first one during Tough Mudder, and it got moisture inside. Now I'm on my second one, and the two screws near the start/split button have sheered off and part of the watch casing can lift off the face now. I guess I just have really bad luck with watches!

Casio and Timex make watches for each other. Lower end tend to be made by Timex, higher end Casio. Talk to your local Watch repair shop, they'll be able to tell you which model is made by whom. So if you ever wondered why both brands have so many similar watches, now you know.

I've had a gray version of the Ironman for a couple years now. It's the first watch that I've kept in one piece for any length of time. Honestly though, the reason I bought it was because the strap is directly connected to the watch housing. I have a parrot and she's destroyed other watches that have a pin where the strap attaches. She hasn't managed to wreck this one yet.

I use an ironman when I'm exercising, but for everyday use, I wear a mechanical that has a camcorder/microphone installed. It's very nifty, for if you want to take a picture or a video quickly and don't want to fumble around with a phone. And it has other features too, like a rechargeable battery, compass, and computer webcam. And I have the same view on style. Practicality and functionality will always be cooler than style and good looks.

I have a gripe with the Ironman and the Expedition now (or maybe it was a women's Ironman) because a little after I replaced the battery, the Expedition stopped working. And when I replaced the smaller one's battery, I took the timey-part out of the case and couldn't get it to fit back in right. So that's why I bought a Casio this time around...and why I got a solar one. (Also, I think that it's insanely cool that a quarter of a square inch of solar panel can power a watch....)
