I've worn mine for the last ~5 years. Its been through all the things a firefighter/EMT can put a watch through. It's been inside an elk. It's been left outdoors in sub zero temps for a week when I lost it. It's gone diving. If I ever break it (lets be honest... don't think I can), I'll just by another.

Currently, Kohls is carrying the PRG-650Y-1CR and the PRG-600Y-1CR models. They have 3 promos going - free shipping and discounts ('WATCHES10' and 'COLD'). After the 3 promos are applied, the total after taxes is $195. Really great deal for those of you who have been wanting these Casios. I'm buying both of them - can't pass up this deal.

I got this watch based on your review. I love it. You were not wrong. Temp is off due to body heat, maybe can be calibrated like altimeter just haven’t bothered yet. Compass works. I’m beating on it by bushwhacking almost daily for months and no scratches on the glass. The bezel’s a little worn but that looks good to me. As you say: It makes me happy. My stupid IPhone doesn’t make me happy when I use it to check the time. We’re in political opposition on some things I think, but I love your videos, Nut’n. Great stuff. Keep it up. Thanks!

I know I have had the PRG 600 1JF for almost 1 year and it is great. Been with it cross-countries, salt water, demolition jobs, gim, etc. and it behaved spectacular. Only have 2 scratches after banging it in some concrete posts.

Man, I've been searching for the right watch (for me) for years! My first serious consideration was the GWG1000. It ticks all the boxes for me in terms of functionality. Time, Baro, Temp, Compass. I've been eyeballing it since it was released, but I just couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger due to the size. What a chunky watch! Main reasoning for those features is so I can stow my phone while I'm on the water, and never have to look at. I want to keep an eye on the baro for fishing purposes. Temp, not really needed, but useful for me. Compass for when I'm in the middle of the everglades and I have no cell service (which happens quite often), or lower battery, etc. There's the smartwatch argument, but I really don't want a wrist computer. Personally I'd rather just whip out the phone to access what I need there. Plus, a nice timepiece is just plain cool. I feel as though the individuals who choose to wear a timepiece are a more tasteful breed of human. I have to give a huge thanks for this review. The moment I laid eyes on this watch I knew it had to be the one. I wanted a big watch, but the Master of G series is just a little over the top in terms of size for me. This one hands down has all the right curves in all the right places. This review pretty much solidified it for me, and I just clicked the purchase button after the video finished. What would we do without Nutnfancy?

I just got the PRG600 in Tactical Black at a steal of a deal. Found it at my local TJMaxx for $120 but with my daughter's employee discount I walked out with it for just a bit over $100. It has many of the features of my way more expensive GWG1000 Mudmaster Maharishi Edition but it's much less chuncky, super light and so comfortable on the wrist. Absolutely love this addition to my collection.

Those are great looking watches! I too am a big fan of larger watches. Well deserved HOF rating. I'm still rockin' a Garmin Fenix 3 and was starting to tire of it until the other day when I was on a bike ride with my daughter. She asked, "Doesn't your watch have a bicycling mode?" Let's find out. I scrolled to bicycling and hit start, we took off. It was amazing. Tracked time elapsed, distance, speed, and altitude change. Breathes some new life into this "old" watch. (fenix 5 is out now)

I feel like I'm cheating when I wear this watch. Another Hall of Fame Casio, the ProTrek PRG 600/650 series is epic. In them you'll find awesome looks, perfect legibility, toughness, solar power, comfort, a large readable analog face, and striking colorations. Meant as outdoor field watches, these JDM Casios have ABC functionality and very legible LCD screens presenting that information. They have also been dive proven in TNP. Like the PRW-6000 series, these are some of our favorite Casios and are used in all adventures. This is a touchstone Casio watch. -nutnfancy

I try to limit my watch purchases to one a year and I've been lusting after the Safari model since I've seen your review around when it first came out. Backlight is not as appealing as some of the other Casio watches but I finally found this for a good price in Canada model PRG-600-1CR....I think the C refers to a Canadian model? In Canada this watch was going for well North of 300 bucks for years as it was not retailed here as far as I know till recently. I only have on watch in my collection (Momentum Vortech GMT with Sapphire. great watch) worth more than 300 bucks (need to remember to live in my means...lol) so I'm always looking for cool watches that don't break the bank like Victorinox field watches. Thank you sir for that! I love this watch. I have big wrists so I think I going to have to NATO it for comfort but this is the first Casio I've owned were that hasn't been a horrible process of trolling Japanese market places and looking for adapters or special spring bars. I should just fit straight up once I remove the old straps I think. Hell for my G Shock Aviator, that I love still, I had to 3d print an adapter for Nato straps.

I have the prg 650 with the camo band and they had an exclusive that it came with a spare cf band in black as well. They are available here in Germany. Been wearing mine for almost a year and I'm not looking back. The prg 650 has a better lumination imo. Also you can order the bands separately from prg 600 and put it on the 650, like the brown leather one.

I love my PRG600. My only problem is that the cloth band gets a pretty good funk going if you spend a few days out in the summer heat. This thing has been covered in motor oil, dunked in rivers and lakes, hit on rocks, and more. Glass is still clear and works like a champ.

Another great review of another great Casio ABC watch. I'm a big fan of your channel and the gear you review. I own several Casio/ProTreks and the PRG-600YL is included in my favorites along with the Gulfmaster GWN1000. They really are great all around watches. There is another great watch I own that is in my regular rotation, the Garmin Fenix 3 HR. This watch is a little older (there is a newer version) but I was surprised with its feature set and build quality.... ABC, GPS, heart rate, fitness tracking, 100m water resistant, Bluetooth notifications, 3rd party app support, rugged build quality, usb charging and a battery that lasts a week. What surprised me most was that this watch was not on my radar as an ABC watch, I just figured they were activity tracking devices but they are so much more. It takes a lot to replace the Casio on my wrist and I find myself wearing the Fenix 3 more often than not. I could not find a review for it on your channel, please consided reviewing it.

I understand why you say that guys don't typically access ABC functions, due to the fact that they require a menu dive. Fr that very reason, and others, my favorite feature set on a G-Shock is the Tide Graph and Moonphase, because those features are typically shown on a constant basis. Those two features, combined with Solar and Atomic, make up my ultimate feature set. Thanks for your consistently great work.

I have a G-Shock Rangeman (GW9400) that i use daily and i find the barometer much more useful than actual time. Altimeter... meh, sometimes measures go crazy when i go in a train or something. But overall it works beautifully. No need to worry about battery, sincronizing time or whatever. It's a true workhorse. This PRG600 was also in my list and i almost bought it. But the G-Shock took the prize.

Some thoughts after PRG600 I own: PROS: Nice looking, very readable day/night, great digital display, solar, functions, classy round look, sturdy buttons, hads move off the digital display when needed - cool! CONS: - the stupid crown is UNUSABLE with wet hands or big fingers, or gloves(!), scrolling is never exact, need to go back and forth, because almost everything is set with the crown - alarms, timers, time - rethink your decision - to use the crown you need to retract it (4-5 movements), rotate it to desire settings, put it back (4-5 movements). - the world time is UNUSABLE, the letters are impossible to read, but in bright light - NO Sunrise/Sunset times - how you can call it RANGER or PROTREK watch? - The thermometer takes about half an hour to measure temp changes, if you go outside, usually it only measures your body temp - Cheap plastic band holders/connectors - Crazy stupid lighting - it's max at 3 sec, but it goes off when you press any button! You can't use it in dark - shame. It is a solar watch, I should be able to use lighting as much as I want!

Not sure what the beef is with REI either but this exact watch is in their display case... I’ve almost bought it the last 3 times I was there. On their website too for $320 PRG600YB-3

Great review. Thanks for putting it out. Is the only difference between the 600 and 650 in how it is illuminated?

Wow, if I could I would...the close-up shots were a phenomenal selling point, but out my range ... speaking of range, gotta go!

Is that a RIB I've been seeing in certain clips? I've seen all your SIB vids and I remember you talking about maybe upgrading, but I don't recall seeing a RIB vid yet.
