I really appreciate NF's investigation into ways to prevent death of healthy cells threatened by chemotherapy and radiation treatments, but it just shines a brighter light on how rudimentary "modern" cancer treatments are. A century after this industry's mainstreaming, it's appalling how little innovation has occurred.

First carboplatin and paclitaxol 2+weeks ago. I fasted the day before, day of, and day after infusion. Zero nausea, diarrhea, GI tract issues. Starting to fast tomorrow for my 2nd chemo on Thursday. This information needs to be pounded into the oncology teams protocols. None of my “team” have ever talked about this, ice packs on feet/hands, or even the slightest mention of anything diet related during my 4 year journey with HNSCC. It’s mind boggling.

Now a week after second round, same exact results. Approx 70% reduction in size of tumors, zero nausea etc. Just heavy bone aches starting at about day 4 after infusion.

I work at a cell therapy lab and it's become a 2nd line treatment (after chemo) just recently and it might be way more effective than chemo. Our future could change and chemo could potentially become something we see in textbooks as what they used to do to cancer patients.
@georget6787 ай бұрын
I hope you are correct. Chemo is one of the most profitable treatments in existence, billions in revenue per year. Sadly that’s a major disincentive to other therapies being introduced and promoted.

I wonder if fasting in general has any preventative effect on cancer? I know that's not a leap that can be made based on this kind of research, but longevity appears to be improved in those who restrict calories generally. And if fasting helps with chemo, I wonder if it might enhance other forms of medication like antibiotics?

The Prolon (FMD) was developed to help those who struggle to fast (such as cancer patients) to gain some of the benefits of fasting more easily. I hope you review Prolon. They have published studies

It's amazing how much better we do when we do not permanently run our cells on glucose but switch to fat and ketones on a fairly regular basis.

Is chemo even effective? Like, with the amount of risk involved, and the reduce quality of life? Seems like we should have better options now; that doesn't cause patients to suffer so much while being treated. We deserve better....

In the last decade they’ve been trying to make the chemotherapy more selective and targeted toward the cancer cells only. Regardless it’s still a very “dirty” treatment in that it will kill and damage normal healthy cells. My mother had to undergo chemo last year for breast cancer and thankfully she’s now in remission but side effects like constant fatigue were brutal.

@@sudd3660 Serious change is being done. Thanks for your concerns. We are a family of much support. The condition had developed from decades of a stressful lifestyle but has changed within the last few years. Even more now her recent condition and the role of healthy habits already taken and made. She is even more happier and healthier than ever before and things won't change by themselves and overnight. She has the support of many health conscious members of the family. Thanks. I just wasn't sure if therapy could be helped further. Now I do. What's even better I have 9 years of dietary experience in plant based nutrition and more than half of that have been with fasting also too. I can pass on my experiences and self knowledge to put a plan for action which gives me great joy.
