It’s concerning how protein is always the dealbreaker for Grace, as if protein is inherently “healthy”. It’s just another source of calories, it depends on your lifestyle if you should eat more or less of it 🤷🏻♀️
@SayYesToTacos12176 жыл бұрын
Lupe Jelena exactly. I don’t know who told her protein was more important than it actually is but I think that’s one of the reasons she stopped being vegetarian. She was worried about protein. Most people eat more than they need unless they are body builders or starving themselves.

I am just wondering is the guest. A RD (Registered Dietician) or just a nutritionist? Because there is a huge difference. Technically any one can call themselves a Nutritionist but not a dietician.
@daniellehoover45566 жыл бұрын
Matthew Short just googled her. She's not an RD but is a certified nutritionist which, of course, doesn't require as rigorous training. As a students in the dietetics program, it takes 5+ years of hard work and effort including schooling and internships to become an RD (plus we will be required to have a masters degree in a few years). Her degree can be completed in 9 months

There's an Amy's (the popular frozen vegan/vegetarian meal brand) Vegan/Vegetarian Drive Thru in Rohnert Park, CA. about 45 mins north of San Francisco. Amy's was founded in that area, so that's unfortunately the only location so far, I wish they would expand because I miss their vegan chili cheese fries. I worked at a theatre company up there for four years, and it was close to where I lived so I would go there quite often lol. I miss it!

From what I understand from a friend who had treatment from a nutritionist, it is actually important to include carbs in your diet, but not too much. I'd love you guys to have her back and ask her how to figure out what a healthy amount of carbs is for your body. (The rest of it I get, like 2-3 portions of protein (meat, nuts, beans etc), 3-4 portions of dairy or similar, plenty of fruit and vegetables. But the how much is too much carbs and how much is too little carbs to be healthy, I'm not sure about. And I was interested that she was excited about the prospect of the burger without the roll because that is no carbs in that meal (but not in the day necessarily)).
@elisemarie81636 жыл бұрын
I'm a nutrition science student and I actually disagree with the way she spoke about carbs in this. Carbs are your body's favoured energy source and it's actually very important to include carbs in your daily diet! However, it's difficult to answer the question of "what's a healthy amount of carbs?" as not all carbs are equal (e.g. white bread vs wholemeal bread). The dietary guidelines I follow at university (Australian) state that about 6 serves of grains (e.g. bread, cereals, etc) should be consumed each day, as well as 5 serves of vegetables and 2 serves of fruit (both of which are technically carbohydrates). So when you classify carbs as what they truly are, that is a macronutrient (protein, carbohydrates and fats are the 3 main macronutrients), you can see that you really can't say that "carbs are bad" because technically by that logic you'd also be calling fruit and vegetables bad! So basically, what i'm saying is that if you stick to dietary guidelines and choose wholegrain products over their processed/refined counterparts then there's absolutely no harm in consuming carbohydrates!
@LesleyMtz286 жыл бұрын
Limiting sugar is good, but just saying that you should limit carbs is dumb. Sugar is a simple carbohydrate and not good in large quantities, but complex carbohydrates like the ones found in veggies, legumes, and whole grains are totally good for you. Carbs are the main source of energy, so if you limit that you’re not doing yourself any good. Eat healthy carbs, limit processed junk, and you’ll be good!
@louiseglasgow6 жыл бұрын
Agreed! I remember when the Atkins diet first came out, there were a lot of nutritionists saying how bad it is for you and that even if you do it, you can't do it for longer than a certain amount of time. These days, people on the internet seem to be talking about eating no carbs all the time like it's a healthy option....?!?!
@SayYesToTacos12176 жыл бұрын
I try to tell my great grandma this. Every time I eat she belittles me and says it will go to my hips. Even though I eat healthier than she does.
@moragyaron74116 жыл бұрын
Agree! That's what she was supposed to say! Every professional dietician will say that the most important thing is to maintain a wise and balanced diet that includes all the macronutrients and micronutrients the body needs, including carbs! Hope people will not listen to her too much and instead will read your reply..
