Carnivore 10 months now. Had RA for 20 years, due to chronic mold exposure for 10 years, mostly kept at bay without any meds. Last November got covid, turned on worst RA attack ever.. Almost crippled me, so went carnivore. Reduced inflamation markedly within a week or so. Unforftunately inflamation been gradually getting worse over the past few months. Tried giving up coffee and dairy for 30 days with no benefit. Just got covid again this November. Now inflamation is out of control again. Just ordered Ivermectin to rule out parasites. Will get whatever binders I can get my hands on too. Hope it works. Also just about every joint in my body feels like it's full of gravel, (Oxalates). I wish there were doctors like you guys here in Melbourne Australia. I am so sick of being sick !!! Definitely CIRS.

@@b.mary94 I've tried the parasite herbs, and large doses of Mebendazol to no avail. Ivermectin is a broad spectrum anti parasite agent, far more effective than Mebendazole, and also kills some protozoan parasites. It has also shown immuno-modulatory effects when tried with auto immune diseases such as RA. It has one of the best safety profiles of any medicine. Of course there can be side effects, but millions of doses dispensed per year in Africa alone indicate high safety profile.

A specific mold species caused me to have very low ferritin (22) while I lived in a WDB, even though I was eating mostly carnivore. Even after moving out, my ferritin did not raise. Why? I realized that I needed to space my Welchol binder away from my big carnivore meals, otherwise it will bind to the iron in the meal. Now I take the binders with a small snack, away from my big meals. Hopefully this will save someone the 6 months it took me to figure it out.

I think mold was the tipping point for me with a bathroom remodel and leaking. Then it went all through the HAVAC. There was no remuneration when there were further repairs and remodeling. I also think that in addition to modern airtight building practices, flat roofs are notorious for leaking. Office buildings, schools, and hospitals don't have windows that opened! Also, having mold-resistant paint has killed off the less innocuous mold and created stronger, hardier strains that are more toxic.

it's definitely easier if you have resources. But it's not just for the super-wealthy. That's negative thinking. We have people who are desperate but have the tenacity to heal and are now living in a tent (a few hundred $ dollars?) and taking the binder. The most important step is to get out of mold. They don't do all the testing and instead manage based on symptoms. To give up so easily when you can have your health back is, frankly, heartbreaking. When there is a will to heal, people find a way. I've seen it with my own eyes with some of my most diligent and courageous patients. Is it easy? No. But is healing possible to live a better life? Yes. When people are sick and really sick, the will to live diminishes. And I fight everyday so that people don't reach that point.

I am also a part of a group that is intensely working on Mind Body Syndrome (symptoms) and found even a little Mind Body really helps! I got sick in part because I was so afraid of this and that, everything became dangerous and scary. I had to spend time reminding myself if others have healed, I can too, my body is working for me, not against me. If I remind my son that X allergen is natural and just a part of our world, his body can handle it...his reactions lessen. If I remind myself that my body is made to heal and I am giving it every chance with healthy meats & practices and chance to get rid of unhelpful cells and build new cells...I find that I am healing faster. Just because a Dr. told me I would always have X or I was born with X ...does not mean it is permanent (or sometimes even true).

Two weeks ago I received positive bloodwork for lyme (burgdorferi) and west nile. (I also had an equivocal back in Feb that was missed for lyme). I'm also positive per mycotoxin urinalysis for ochratoxina and afflotoxin. My knees swelled up a year ago and I've been sick for a year and just got these results. My question is do you think I should immediately jump to the CIRS or right now I'm seeing a doc who prescribed doxycycline, will add herbs, welchol and some west nile support. Prior to last year I've always been healthy. So my question is should I try the antibiotics, herbs, etc before going down the time consuming and expensive path of cirs? We also had our house remediated for mold because until 2 weeks ago I thought mold was my only problem. Thanks!

I’m so bummed that my thyroid has gotten worse after a year in carnivore - and because my thyroid is worse, my cholesterol is terrible (but my CAC score is 0). Despite being a self-proclaimed ketogenic doctor, my doctor thinks that carnivore is damaging for cortisol, thyroid, and glucose. He think I need to add carbs back in and wants me to start medication. I’ve been tested for CIRS, mold, toxins, etc. Even my hormones are now within normal range (thanks to carnivore), but my thyroid and cholesterol keep getting worse. My biggest question I’m struggling with right now is whether or not I’ve actually been doing a ketogenic diet, despite being carnivore. I’m wondering if I haven’t been doing the right thing. If you eat too much protein as a carnivore and constantly rely on gluconeogenesis to convert protein to glucose, is that really keto? Because my ketones were always in a non therapeutic range and my glucose was always too high. After the disappointment of my last blood work, I switched up my diet to begin my day with only fat and end my day with only fat and limited my protein to only in the afternoons. Once I did that, my ketosis finally kicked in and I noticed a huge change in my metabolism. So is it possible that I’ve been sabotaging my carnivore diet by managing when and how much protein I eat? Is it really a ketogenic diet if we never get into ketosis?

I had CIRS a few years ago and breast implant illness. It destroyed my health! I moved and got bitten by a tick that gave me a PCR Babesia Mycroti and other vector borne infections, and several viruses resurfaced. My Lyme doctor says I don’t have Lyme anymore after treatment, but have multiple infections, for which I’m being treated with plant medicines. I have pain and malaise every day and I just want to feel normal without pain meds. I tried going off them, but my nervous system was on high alert, including my bladder! Is CIRS still an issue for me? I’m asking not only for myself, but for my grown son, who is horribly sick and in pain after having severe mold toxicity, several Lyme diseases, and then long Covid. When he was also diagnosed with Lyme, he got horrible neuropathy and pain, then the vaccine and Covid exacerbated his pain and psychiatric issues. I believe he’s had Lyme since childhood and had meningoencephalitis at age 7, which changed his personality. He’s 38, has addictions, and can’t function. He’s constantly angry and psychotic. He’s now seeking drug abuse help, and the suboxone is taking away some pain. He doesn’t want to start Lyme treatment again. I’m at a loss.

CIRS can be caused by a triggering event like a tick bite infection. I've listened twice to Dr shoemaker explaining to Judy and he says it won't turn off by itself. The binder then the medicine called VIP to turn off the genes causing all the inflammation. Judy is talking about it here but I know for people without a biology or immunology background it all sounds like wah wah wah The short version is the triggering event can be mold or the triggering event could be a tick bite that causes your system to get damaged and attack itself. Genes get turned on. Those genes get turned off by taking medicine VIP. In order to get the medicine cholestyramine and the medicine VIP you have to have a prescribing provider. Find a provider that will do minimum testing. Judy might already know which providers will do the least testing because that's where it gets ridiculously expensive!
