Like, good on him, man! Also, this is one of the best episodes simply from the use of continuity, body horror, and making Lady and Peebles credible heroes in their own right. Like, PB is scared and anxious for Finn and Jake, but she holds back her fear to save them from that FREAKY THING. Oh yeah, Ricardio here was terrifying as a kid; the body horror here was great. Freaky Fred Thing is as a kid growing up in a rough situation it gave me a metaphor for the horror and helplessness I felt about the sick adults around me. Muriel is an enabler, Eustace is an abuser. We often have things we can't quite make sense of as kids that terrified us. Fantasy horror is a safe place to psychologically explore those feelings and concepts. Think about old-school fairy tales. The world is filled with predators. Keep your wits about you, be polite and good, find your safe people and you just might survive. There are plenty of previous victims to show that sometimes it's just bad luck or circumstances though.

Fun Facts about this Episode: There's a difference between the noodle that Lady Rainicorn had taken in the episode and the storyboard. On page 15 of the storyboard she says "vermicelli," which is a kind of spaghetti. But in the episode, she says "Vietnamese" (월남, 越南, Wol-Nam) Korean pronunciation of Chinese-written name of Vietnam). It is either a translation error or an intended change. This is the first episode where Princess Bubblegum and Lady Rainicorn are the main characters. This is the first time Princess Bubblegum was seen fighting in hand-to-hand combat. Lady Rainicorn speaks English without using a Universal Translator for the first time. It is possible that Princess Bubblegum taught her to say this while Finn and Jake were unconscious. Ricardio briefly calls Ice King "Simon," a reference to Ice King's real name of "Simon Petrikov." "Peebles" is a nickname for Princess Bubblegum. In the storyboard, the Ball Blam Burglerber (Princess Bubblegum's primary weapon in the episode) is named the "Ball Buster" and looks like a revolver. In the promotional art by Rebecca Sugar, Princess Bubblegum is shown wearing an outfit and sword similar to Utena's from the anime Revolutionary Girl Utena. Ice King moves for a second time when he is seen behind Ricardio holding Lady Rainicorn. After Ricardio finishes telling how he built his new body, the heart monitor disappears. Before Finn woke up, there was a table next to him instead of a bed that is shown later. Also, the stretcher Ice King was dancing on moves.
