A fun fact that is not mentioned in the video. The door to the room where the toy box is, is absent the entire game up until you have to get to it. Which further pushes that mentality of how much Sunny(The main character) has detached themselves from what happened.

Btw he didn't try to kill her or anything it was simply a very unfortunate sequence of events , they just had a siblings fight *ontop of the stairs* bcuz sunny threw his violen *down the stairs* and it *broke*, right before the recital, bcuz mari is a perfectionist, he played the violen bcuz he loved her and wanted to get closer to her, but she over done it and pushed him too hard that he didn't understand why was she yelling at him when it was all for her and he's just not good enough for her standards. He tried to *run away*, she *blocked him*, he *pushed her out of his way* in blind rage , she had a *sprained ankle* so it caused her to fall the way down the stairs. any chances she had to survive that were blocked by the fact that there's a broken violen waiting for her.

Fun fact! There is some unused content that details exactly what happened with Mari: *BIG SPOILERS WARNING!* -Mari was a bit of a perfectionist so she pushed her brother to practice the violin a lot for their duet. -He got angry and frustrated bc he kept making mistakes, to the point that he threw his violin down the stairs and broke it. -Mari saw this, so she started reprimanding him at the top of the stairs -Sunny tried to walk away in a huff, but Mari got in front of him and scolded him for trying to run away from the confrontation. -In frustration, he pushed her... and she fell all the way down the stairs, and on to the shattered violin at the bottom, killing her on impact. ‐Sunny then rushed down the stairs and brought Mari up to her bed, not really believing that it wasn't an awful dream. He thought that surely with some rest she'd get better... but she didn't wake. -He tried calling her name and shaking her arm, but she wasn't breathing. -Sunny broke down, slipping into a white space in his mind, crying and drowning in guilt. -While he was half out of his mind, Basil, who had seen these events, approached and told him "everything would be ok". -Not really processing what was happening, Sunny helped Basil bring Mari back down the stairs and out of the house, where Basil hung Mari to protect Sunny from the blame. You know the rest 😭

The worst part about depression is that it changes the way you see everything. Eventually, you don't even want to be happy, you just want the pain to go away. Then.....then you enjoy feeling absolutely nothing. You fear the single moments of happiness because you know they are fleeting, and when it's over, you'll be dragged back to into the soul crushing depression. You just want it all to stop, but you know if you make it stop, you'll hurt so many other people.

I don't feel happy with anything. Maybe that’s it
@diamondseraph93693 ай бұрын
Also, if you get _REALLY_ depressed there can come a point where you literally feel nothing. To the extent that it's not even that you're afraid to feel momentary happiness...it's just that you literally _CAN'T._ You went so long without feeling anything other than despair, fear, and anger that you literally can't even remember what it's like to feel happy....and even those negative emotions that you _DO_ feel become so commonplace that they just dull into a barely noticeable sensation...leaving you feeling like an empty shell that just glides on in life performing tasks like a robot or a puppet... Or at least, that was my experience when I was like 5-8...I literally didn't even feel depressed because I was so broken that I barely felt anything even more...even the negative emotions that were basically all I knew at that point I only really vaguely understood because they had become so common that I just barely noticed them...and happiness? I couldn't remember what that was at all...like, I knew the definition of it but other than that...nothing. I couldn't remember a single time where I was actually happy despite the fact that I was a perfectly normal (albeit autistic) child prior to the trauma that caused me to get like that...I literally didn't even know _HOW_ to feel happy. Until...one day...I saw a girl getting bullied at school and I suddenly realized that I wasn't the only one who was suffering. At which point I became hyperaware of the fact that by constantly acting and feeling like an empty shell devoid of all emotions that I was unintentionally hurting those around me. I was worrying those around me (especially the ones who loved me) and on top of that I might have even been unintentionally hurting people by reminding them of their own issues. So...I went out of my way to change that. I didn't want to hurt anyone and wanted to be able to help others who were also hurting so I started doing my best to fake a smile and pretend that I was happy and that everything was okay (not _REALLY_ as a form of masking...by this point I did genuinely feel better and had remarkably gotten over the brunt of my issues...it's just that I still literally couldn't remember _HOW_ to be happy...so despite the fact that I didn't really feel all that depressed anymore and was actually doing a lot better I still had to actively fake happiness in order to actually remember how to _BE_ happy...so it was technically a mask but it was moreso a mask in order to relearn how to be happy without having to _USE_ a mask if that makes sense) until eventually I managed to relearn what it was like to be happy and to feel emotions. All because I didn't want to hurt anyone by being depressed.

note the "photos" at the end of the game aren't actual photos, that's why you see basil's hands in some shots + his reflection in the sliding glass door which shows him not holding a camera. they're memories of what happened from basil's perspective there's actually a theory that sunny and basil have a connected headspace (which might be why sunny views things from basil's perspective in that one scene), and another that mari is actually a spirit in some parts of sunny's dreams (the parts where she's in a white dress). these theories would make the scenes at 56:05 make more sense and be more impactful imo

You probably already got it by now, but I still wanna clarify one thing just in case: Mari absolutely was not abusive in any way. She was a model, loving, and caring older sister. She wanted to share her passion of music with her younger brother. By the time Sunny realized he disliked learning an instrument, he was already stuck doing annoying practices for violin for a stressful, big, upcoming recital. He would never voice his distaste, however. And so now we have Mari, pushing her little brother do his best for a passion they supposedly both loved, but in reality only one of them did. Mari probably snapped at him, wondering why he wasn't taking this seriously. _Sunny snapped back._

Main character's default name is "SUNNY". Mari was a perfectionist, and well... she pushed him too hard with the recital, which lead Sunny to get angry and start a fight with her. At some point during the dispute, Basil arrived. Sunny threw the violin down the stairs. Mari, probably went for an embrace to calm him down, maybe even say sorry, realizing why Sunny is acting the way he is. But Sunny was still mad at her and didn't want to accept the hug, pushing her away. Poor Mari. She had a bad knee, you see... if you check the baseball bat in the treehouse in the real world, it says Mari quit softball because of a leg injury. and the fact that they were at the top of the stairs didn't help. I'm not the type to cry, but with Omori, I can't stop myself from tearing up every time I hear that duet, or for the whole endgame sometimes...

It's such a shame this didn't go a little bit more into the group dynamics, as each friend represents a different way people grieve. Kel is kinda aloof and distracts himself with sports. His older brother, and Maris boyfriend, Hero, falls into a classic depression. He loses interest in things he once loved, especially things connected to mari, and struggles with extreme emotional swings that are unlike him (he's always the voice of reason). Eventually he too goes the distraction path and throws himself into school, following the path his parents wanted (doctor) instead of the path mari could see was his passion (cooking). Aubrey went the anger route and rejected everyone when support didn't arrive. Which is understandable as her home situation isn't full of love and Aubrey really depends on friends to be an emotional support. Her father has left and her mother doesn't even notice you come into the house cos she's so glued to the TV. Basil I think you've seen enough of. But added context is that he is also missing family support as his family is never around. Basil's grandmother also dies on the day you stay over his house, meaning the last thing he had is gone.
@VoMFilms6 ай бұрын
Also, when Aubrey accidentally pushes basil into the lake, it's kinda foreshadowing how main character Sunny also pushed his sister down the stairs. It's this idea that kids act sometimes without thinking of the consequences of their actions. Neither Aubrey or Sunny had any intent of real harm, it was a push. But even a push can have fatal consequences. Omori was 12 when he killed his sister. He didn't want to participate in the recital, he was tired of playing with the violin and just wanted to enjoy time with his friends. He threw his violin down the stairs, which began the argument. In the heat of the moment he pushed her and she fell, falling on the violin. That little smile. I think he believed she was just knocked out and now they didn't have to go to the recital, until they put her into bed and discovered she wasn't breathing. Then reality came crashing down on these kids hard.

they all represent the stages of grief, i think. sunny goes through denial, pretending it never happened and living in headspace ignoring his trauma, pushing and burying every instance of it that seeps in. aubrey goes through anger, hating what happened, hating everyone that wasn't there for her and wasn't hurting like she was, growing bitter and lashing out and pushing everyone away. basil goes through bargaining, holding onto hope that everything will be okay, that their friends might understand, that sunny will be there for him. hero goes through depression, burying himself into his studies and losing all interest in anything else (like cooking) and screaming and hurting at the memory of mari's passing. kel goes through acceptance, trying to heal and move on, finding new friends and a new hobby, going around and helping his friends, cheering them up and trying to bring them back together despite their mutual trauma.

The description of that voice yelling at you, calling you a failure, is a very real thing and it makes trying to form the simplest human connection sometimes feel an insurmountable challenge. There is truth though in some of this game's message. Having a friend just be there for you even when you want to shut the world out can be all the difference. Care for each other, speak your true feelings while you have the time. And please don't bottle everything up, your friends love you and will listen. If no one else will I'll do my best to listen!

Things I want to clarify. 1. The protag has a canon name, SUNNY. But you can change hus name up to 6 letters. So, if you ever meet OMORI fans and they said Sunny character, they meant the protag. 2. Few months before the insident, Sunny and Mari are gonna have a rehearsal together and Mari want to be perfect. So she push Sunny to practice violin almost everyday and this makes Sunny pissed and yeet the violin of the second floor. Mari was mad but Sunny didn't want to hear her. So when he stepping aside, Mari tried to keep him and Sunny push her just to get out of her but, you know what happen next. 3. The fight mechanism in the game base on emotion and each emotion represent each characters. Neutral(Sunny): after years of isolation, he probably can't show any emotion at the time. Anger(Aubrey): her anger in the story shows how she really pissed to all of her "former" friends. Sad(Hero): after Mari passed away, Hero fall into a depression and neglect his school work and his health. Happy(Kel): Kel is the one who have move on after Mari passing. He continue to live like he used to. Afraid(Basil): haunted by what happen to Sunny and Mari, he keep himself far from anyone so the secret remain hidden. 4. There are 2 rutes and 4 ending so far Sunny's rute: the true rute Hikikomori rute: expend the dreamworld and the adventure. (Note. I don't know the names of the ending, so just gonna it in numbers) First ending: true ending: Sunny face his trauma, able to forgive himself and the the other friends about the tragidy Second ending: Hikikomori rute's ending: Sunny never meet up with his old friends and move out at the end. Third ending: Sunny left Basil when he wake up and moment later, Basil visited Mari (If you know what I mean) and Sunny goes home, grab a knife and commit seppuku. Fourth ending: Sunny tried to fight Omori, but his too powerful. Sunny give up and Omori take over again. He went to the top of the hospital roof and yeet himself. 5. Sunny's phobia are happen because of one event. During their time at the secret hideout, Kel and Hero want Sunny to jump of the statue in the lake. When Sunny at the top of the statue, he saw how high it was, he become scared of height. Next he felt something on his shoulder, a spider. Sunny panic and passed out and fell of the statue to the lake and then drowned.

I've also been depresed till 8 months ago (for the last 5 years) it's hard hearing again all the dark thoughts I had while trying to conquer it.

It's been a few months for me, I had been "DARK" depressed for 8ish years. I've been doing pretty good with telling off those thoughts, I am scared that they'll come back. But I know that if I can get over once, I can do it again. Hoping that you'll be okay, don't let those thoughts consume you.

@@Carl_Is_Tired I'm sad to hear this happened... I'm past getting consumed by them however, whenever something related to the trauma(betrayal) happens they show up, it's difficult to face them but I know it's not true.

That's fucked because. Omori was the one pushing her but this could be sweeped under the rug as accidental death. But Basil's "genius" Idea of making it suicidal fucks with everyone. Even doubles or quadruples the pain of main character.

Omori is the best story I have ever experienced and I highly doubt anything else will ever surpass it for me. I’ve thought about it daily since I played it last year, it’s made a huge impact on my mental state and it’s truly amazing to see so many things represented this way in media. Omori is not only an amazing story, but an incredible experience. It was real fun watching you react to this broken down version of the story! Though it left out a lot of smaller things that all add up to make the story even more impactful. Also, please watch/listen to the good ending credits if you haven’t already! I honestly can’t believe they were left out of the video you watched, I think they’re pretty important to get a good idea of Sunny’s current mental state is now and how the story would continue moving forwards.

I really don't like it when people call people who shut themselves in selfish. it's already so difficult to open up because your head tells you people wont accept you, but when you do tell them a part of what you're going through, and they call you dramatic, say that they've been through the same things, i should be the one to be there for them instead of the other way around, and you just dont know if it's true. There was a point in my life where i felt so useless i didn't make food for myself whenever possible. If others made me food, i snuck out and fed it to the street dogs. I felt like i dont deserve it. The only way i could deal with my existence was to just... Try and just not do anything. Do nothing to survive, since I don't deserve to survive. The only ounce of food i ate was because i still owe the person that loved me, that i don't love anymore. The only reason I'm alive because I'm not selfish enough to not be. The only reason I'm a shut in is because I'm not selfish enough to burden others with my existence.

I haven’t been giving this game a lot of credit because of an old controversy it had, now that I’ve watched this it makes my chest tight. This seems like a true masterpiece of a game and I want to play it myself now. I had a really bad period for a while and I hurt a lot of people- I was even lead to believe for a time I had killed someone, I was just a kid. I didn’t, with hindsight that was obvious, but all I knew was they got hurt, bad, it was my fault, they went to the hospital, and no one saw them for over a month. The truth of the situation was their mom just didn’t want them going outside for a while, apparently she wanted to take legal action, but didn’t after finding out I was a child too, and that it was ‘just a game’ which makes her a stronger person then I was. But I moved away before I found this out and don’t know all the details perfectly, I was just in therapy for a while. I spent the next six years of my life hating myself for what I have done, so a game like this really does feel like a testament to trauma. I will never be the same after that, but honestly I like to think I’ve used it to become a better, more compassionate person than I could’ve been otherwise. For anyone who suffers from trauma and depression and hating yourself for your actions, I want you to know you’re not alone, you can get better, atone for what you’ve done and spend every day seeking to be a little better then the day before, maybe one day you can forgive yourself, I sometimes think I have.

9:30 Fun fact: Sunny couldn't have warmed the steak. Let me explain: The power company cut off power early, so he couldn't have microwaved it - Sunny hallucinated and ate a (most likely) raw steak, which is why he threw up.

So what happened was sunny "main character" broke the violin out of frustration because practice time took too much of his life away and sunny accidentally pushed her down the stairs basil walked in the house and they tried nursing her back to health she wasn't breathing and Basil had the idea of faking Maris suicide to protect sunny

There is a theory that makes this even more messed which is basically that Mari was still alive after the fall and was just unconscious, and when they hung her, she opened her eye, but at that point it was too late to do anything and she died by being hung by them. This would explain why Basil feels so guilty and regretful, and also why Sunny seems so antagonistic towards him, since he was the one who proposed the cover up, and was ultimately a major factor in her actual Death. So instead of calling for help like they should have done, which might have saved her, they threw that possibility away for their own selfish desire for unaccountability, and killed Mari as a result, which would make this story a lot more darker, and make their actions make a lot more sense.
@Harukaluin196 ай бұрын
No, there was blood and hair on the violin. there's a very high chance his parents knew, it's alluded to, so they covered up for the kids too. He's not antagonistic to basil he blocks him out bcuz he's his trigger ,the reminder of the truth.
@plugshirt17626 ай бұрын
Bruh her being alive when they hung her is such a dumb theory that makes no sense. Not to mention it literally got disproven with the update that literally clarifies she is dead before she gets hung. Sunny feels antagonistic toward basil because he was the one who did the whole hanging thing and had him go along with it while he was still in shock about the whole thing.
@b.tresource56115 ай бұрын
I’ve heard that theory was disproven pretty quickly by some unused stuff they showed that SUNNY noticed MARI wasn’t breathing after he brought her back to the bed. On top of that, the eye opening this is apparently a part of the body entering Rigor Mortis after the death. This kind of scare is so common that people sew the eyes of corpses shut when preparing them for a funeral service

this is by far one of my favorite games of all time,i played both good and bad end (40 hours for each),and good fucking lord did i cry like a baby at the end. the message still has impact with this story video,but like most good rpg games,the amount of time you spend going through it,be it a long or short game,makes you really cherish and love each and every character a whole lot more than someone just telling you the story from beginning to end. if someone hasnt played the game,please play it,its well worth your time (although id argue the best experience is going in completely blind) and omocat deserves all the love and praise for this masterpiece of a game.

Bruh basil was the one more in the wrong what are you on about? Sunny accidentally pushed his sister down the stairs without any intent to kill her while basil was the one who came up with the plan to hang her from a tree to make it look like a suicide while sunny was still in a state of shock.
@BananaManInaPan6 ай бұрын
@@plugshirt1762 Accident or not unless I misunderstood he pushed her out of anger, and is most certainly still at fault. While I don't think Basil is innocent, he just couldn't comprehend his friend killing his sister. But this might just be a respectfully agree to disagree situation.

The story video forgot to mention the parts where it shows that sunny (real life omori) got fed up as a kid because his friends all got to watch cartoons together while his parents made him take violin classes because he was gifted in music like his sister (very much depicting the perfectionist style family that many asians have). And because of that,sunny throws a tantrum and throws the violin down the stairs,and thats what starts the argument with mari,in no moment did he mean for it to escalate,as you can see in the photos he just didnt know what to do when mari didnt wake up,so he just dragged her to bed and sat next to her. Thats why its so important that his friends voices resonated when fighting omori,because it was nobodys fault,it was an accident,and they were just scared kids

1:00:39 thing is, we do realize how much it would impact others. I do, at least. But when the pain ends up becoming greater than one can possibly bear, the need to make it stop overshadows the care you have for others. You don’t stop loving them, but everything hurts so much you become impossibly numb to it… So yeah, as bad as it sounds, it gets to a point where you end up not caring. And when you realize that, it’s just salt on a wound, and it ends up feeling like you deserve the pain you feel, and that is all you should ever have. So it festers again until you can’t take it anymore and you take action to make it stop. A lot of the times, over and over again. Today I’m on meds, but it makes it better just enough that the care is greater than the hurt most days. It never quite goes away. And at some point the love of others becomes shackles that ground you on that suffering. And yeah, I’m aware it sounds horrible, and how could one possibly say these things, and I’m well aware of that. And so do most people that went through what I did. Mental illness isn’t quite the easy fix that media would have you think. So, if anyone reading this feels guilty that a loved one ended up succeeding in ending things, don’t. It’s not your fault, and even though the idea that love can fix depression/suicidal thoughts is quite prevalent, it can help, but it absolutely cannot fix it. This idea is very detrimental to the ones left behind because they end up thinking they didn’t love “enough”, when in reality the person was only able to put up with it for so long because of their loved ones. But there’s a limit to how much a person is capable of shouldering, and to how long they’re able to fight. You can hurt, you can grieve, you can be angry, you can regret the time you didn’t spend together, but don’t feel guilt for the incident. It’s not your fault. - a clinically depressed suicide survivor
