So I owned Amazing Island back in the day. It was obviously a Japanese game with a few direct translations that had gone through some kind of software (Hence some of the broken English in some dialogues and the oh so poorly named "Black Evil"). Not to mention it was released in the early days of the GameCube but went largely under the radar. What I can say is as a kid Amazing island was the game I pumped the most hours into. The game case itself describes it as Pokémon meets Mario Party and really it is. She really didn't show the monster creation system which was crazy for its time. and frankly the game is a lot of fun! I definitely recommend. TLDR Go play Amazing Island.

As someone who owned and played the heck out of the game, everything about it feels like it should be a shitty game, but is too charming to be bad. Like the minigames are meh, you can tell they are meh before, during, and after playing them all, but somehow it feels satisfying because you end up trying to collect all the props and skins and try to create the best or most interesting creatures you can.
