What I Love about this episode is that once again we explore the hypocrisy of Rick. He constantly speaks of infinite possibilities and that nothing Matters yet he created a rule in existence that :”Rick is the smartest and the only one with portal tech”. He basically created a line in infinity. Now we find out that he also created a weapon that creates rules. This time the rule says: “This person has died”. For a man obsessed with infinity it’s funny how he creates rules that eliminate infinity.
@pudgeydoodles6314 Жыл бұрын
I think it's because deep inside, the concept of infinity might actually scare him. As wild as things in his life get, he only truly thrived and was happy when there was structure in his life with his wife and daughter. With that stripped, he's faced with the reality that things don't matter, everything is random, and the possibilities of things better, worse, and stagnant all at the same time stretches out to forever, and it terrifies him. Going after Rick Prime was a goal that gave him some kind of structure, at least a goal post, and that lead him to drawing a line in infinity, and adding rules to existence- forms of structures he specifically can control, adding order to a chaotic world he's only been pretending to be alright with as a means to cope. It's just my personal heacannon though.

I can only guess as to why Evil Morty revived Rick. 1. Rick Prime killed all Dianes (including his grandma, so he never had the chance to meet her) so the Ricks deserved their revenge. 2. Rick Prime ensured all Ricks would be nihilistic and petty, so he would want some revenge too, he just didn't feel the passion for it. 3. Our Rick is one of the few who would have preferred family life over portal travel, that's the closest to a pass for his Rickness.

4. Our Rick can revive with his backups, and if Evil Morty would have kill prime Rick, then our Rick would think that Evil Morty remove his goal/life and go after him, which Evil Morty doesn't want.

Removing Prime was necessary, because he made the ultimate weapon and was directly targeting everyone - which would ultimately even kill Evil Morty by proxy. Evil Morty however probably has some level of liking when it comes to Prime Morty - which is probably why he let him keep his Rick. And it's not like they didn't collabed on this win, our Rick was one of the few Ricks that ultimately left him alone - even if his actions still affected him (like with the beginning of the episode). Also killing our Rick would mean Prime Morty and our Beths and Summer likely would go after him with revenge.

He definitely downloaded the brains of all the Ricks he killed and captured. That was why he created the dome of tortured Mortys. Like Rick said he could have done the same thing with two morty's and a battery if he just wanted to hide. He needed so many Mortys because he was concentrating Rick's brainwaves within himself when he was downloading their brains and creating a stronger signal to hide. When he went to the citadel it was masked by the thousands of other Ricks there. Nux is completely right. Evil Morty didn't create anything, but he did have the creativity and intelligence to improve upon what Rick made.

I recently read someone's hypothesis somewhere that Rick C-137 is the "Rickiest Rick" not because he's the one that cares the least about everything, but because he cares the _most._ He didn't want to go portal-traveling the multiverse, he just wanted to stay at home with his wife and daughter, and when they were killed he didn't go "Well, guess I'll go do that after all, then", he went on a massive revenge spree. Notice how Rick will get extremely creative revenge on people for petty reasons (like the Vindicators, and the guy who used his personal bathroom), but if you mess with Morty you'll get that cold, quiet fury before he simply ends your life (like the Jelly Bean King).

I noticed a thematic parallel here: Rick, after killing Prime and returning home, has a blank stare. His mind tries to process how, there isn’t much purpose anymore for him, after killing Prime. Just how Morty felt when his original dimension was lost, and hopped over to a new one with Rick. He tries to fathom that another himdied, but eventually is snapped out of it when he realizes: knowing the vastness of infinity doesn’t matter, it’s heavy to process. But still, life goes on. Rick goes through this same heavy process until Morty snaps Rick out of it at the dinner table. Just like Morty before, Rick realized, it’s the connections you have, family, the bonds you create, that matter.

nah, rick could never be happy, that’s the point. the only thing that sets him apart from prime rick is his attachment to his family which is the family of prime rick himself. He is the only rick to have that emotion, which is what gives him the closure to accept his wife’s death and why evil morty kinda likes him. the rick we follow used the og morty and the og family to seek revenge, but along the way grew to genuinely love them, and now that his mission for revenge is done, he doesn’t know how to live for anything other than engaging w the family he subconsciously relies on.

Fun fact. The final song is the same one we heard in Rickpotion 9 when Morty’s mind was broken and it became empty. Now Rick hears the same music because he too is now empty, for his motivation to continue and excuse to act like a jackass is gone now. Now he has to continue without a purpose just like Morty after Rickpotion 9.
@garrettviewegh9028 Жыл бұрын
Yep. I noticed that parallel too. But, I think, we’ve slowly been seeing our Morty find his purpose: to keep his current family together, including this Rick he’s grown attached to. This Morty knows how messed up his family is. And he’s become more caring towards his chosen family, and his Rick. In spite of them being a family in an infinite sea of other families, Morty seems to just want to keep this one around and alive. Because he lost his original one. Remember the concern he had for this other Summer after we hopped universes? He wanted them to stay together. Because he didn’t want to lose another family. This particular Smith family. Because he found something to care about still: his family.
@Flweem Жыл бұрын
Good read on Rick Prime's motive. He can't accept that there might be other ways for him to be happy, so he made that way impossible for any version of himself. For all of Rick's pontificating on how all choice is meaningless in the face of infinity, here we see a version of Rick so petty and controlling that he takes a blunt instrument and beats infinity into shape. He carves out a chunk where he's the only person that matters, and then he turns on himself, cutting out any part of himself he can't control.

I get that's the point, but that just reads to me as "Well, we made our episode poorly on purpose to fit a theme that you could find in a fortune cookie." There's better ways to get a theme like that across that don't involve making the episode worse, just like how an annoying character doesn't have to (and arguably shouldn't) annoy the audience to get the point across that they're annoying.

@@AlphaOmega1237What?
@AlphaOmega1237 Жыл бұрын
@jaystargamelover8785 What do you mean "What?" It was a major plot point since season 3 that suddenly came up in a random episode of season 7 where Evil Morty just randomly included himself which also introduced some sort of omniversal killing machine, once again, out of nowhere. Most of the episode was just "things happening," while Evil Morty and Rick took pot shots at each other. That's not to say it was all bad, but showing up at a random time, including Evil Morty despite him having no reason to be after Rick Prime (which is why the show decided to have Rick and Morty doing stuff on that spaceship that also came out off nowhere), and randomly introducing a weapon that can kill across the multiverse as if it had always been a possibility, all of this just drags down the episode. It could have been achieved better by giving these plot points some build-up in Season 7, as Rick had made basically no progress on actually hunting down RP since last season. It would have made more sense to have Evil Morty show up because of that time Rick accidentally reset portal travelers or just give EM an actual reason to care about RP if they were gonna include him. Instead, he's just here for reasons that were invented just now with no setup. Also, EM's backstory is kinda lame for a guy who was so sick of Rick that he was willing to murder and torture hundreds to thousands of other versions of himself. Turns out he was just a kid who didn't like getting stuck up some alien's butt.

My theory is rick prime was the first to make portal tech and travel our rick was the first to invent it and decide to stay. Which is why our rick set the standard of ricks. Now that he's achieved his goal and got his revenge the thrill has worn off. Now he can be a better person which is gonna be a weird thing to see. i expect a rick and bird person episode soon.

Friendly reminder that if our Morty hadn't been there, not even the combined efforts of our Rick and Evil Morty would have been able to beat Rick Prime

Noticed how the "Jetson" family kept visually changing as if it's a meta commentary about long running shows. the family are visually adjusting to "modern audience" much like how the Scooby Doo cartoon went through so many changes until Velma came out lol.

The multiverse can't be truly infinite, otherwise there would be a successful Owlman situation at some point. Someone in infinity would find a way to (or accidentally) cause the destruction of the entire multiverse.
@ankurdesai837011 ай бұрын
well, it actually depends on what type of multiverse we are dealing with and the whole "every possibility plays out somewhere because it is infinity" is not how that actually works. That is not even the original statement. the original is "Anything with a non-zero probability will play out somewhere." There are things with a zero probability! example: A universe where the multiverse is not real (It is a zero-probability event) (It makes no logical sense, also why would something that is applicable to a universe be applicable to the multiverse? because you know, universe is a smaller part of the multiverse, not the other way around? it's like saying this building doesn't have the 2nd floor because we didn't label it second floor but rather the third, that doesn't make it the third floor, does it?) Similarly a successful Owlman situation is a zero-probability event! (1: The DC multiverse doesn't operate like that) (2: Even if we ignore the first point and say that every time the heroes succeed, there exists another universe where they lose, well, what Owlman was doing was beyond the scope of any universe, there are not two different multiverses, one where heroes win and one where Owlman wins, there is just one multiverse!) In conclusion: If someone tries to destroy the multiverse, there are not 2 possibilities of one where he succeeds and one where he doesn't! there is just one possibility! because this thing is happening on a multiversal level! so the rule of "if possibility A happens there has to be a universe where possibility B happens" is not applicable for obvious reasons! Hence the argument that if someone tries to destroy the multiverse, there has to be a place where the plan succeeds so the multiverse cannot be truly infinite is invalid The multiverse is infinite (truly infinite) but there are rules, and some things are impossible Thank you for reading everyone💗

Despite all of Rick Primes genius he could NEVER comprehend a Morty capable of outsmarting him, so he couldn’t anticipate it

I like that end credits scene. It's a recreation of Ricks backstory that we see through the flashback, but this time rather than stay glued to the idea of revenge, she finds someone who went through a similar situation. This tells us that either Rick Prime has dome this with multiple people while going throughout the multiverse, or that someone else did something very similar. Either way it turns out to be, there is always someone like Rick that just ruins things for people and there is always someone else left behind to either pick up themselves from the ashes... Or stay down and allow themselves to remain darkened.

The funny thing is...that Rick Prime loses because he hesitates to shoot what he thinks is his original Morty.

In the eyes of Rick Prime (and pretty much every other Rick) Evil Morty is just a Morty. Being considered irrelevant gave E.M. a huge layer of protection, practically assuring his victory.

45:30, and it's the same music in the finale of season 5, when Morty sees Rick's memories and tracking down Prime... interesting, but yeah, typical revenge plot, never satisfying, doesn't bring the ones or things you lost back, if anything... things could get worse. Not that this was bad because of that, as cliche as revenge plots are, just curious as to where it will go from here, like will the next episode start with Rick trying to commit suicide? Will he be back at Dr Wong's?

8:30 the central finite curve is just a barrier construted as a boundary between categories of infinity, all those other universes exist, this dump universe of failed portal travel was still happening. Infinite possibilities means every failure can & does exist

After this episode I just kinda felt for our Morty like... What is he? Mortyest Morty dosent feel like a fitting title for him, more over when comparing him to Evil Morty. He is just kinda helpless in a face of any challenge. I don't know I just hope he gets more character development(by hanging out with Evil Morty preferably). And I know, very strange take after a Rick centered episode.

There's a lot of great moments in this episode that everyone has pointed out. A small moment i really liked was Evil Morty coming back to let Main Morty follow along. I don't know what it is. It isnt heartwarming or anything. I just found their interaction charming.

16:36 I'm not sure if this is clarified or not, but to clarify something about that scene with the Rick's talking. Rick says portal travel and then gives him interdimensional travel so he was differentiating the two at the time. He was saying that portal travel is common but interdimensional would make him more powerful than regular portal travel. This kind of shown because our Rick he tried to just send an apple through a portal directly beside itself while interdimensional would have been something a little different it could be wrong though
