I used to play there a lot in the 80's and 90's. They had $2.00 Blackjack on the mezzanine level. And always had $5.00 Craps, even on the busiest nights. If memory serves me, they were the first AC casino with a player's card. You could get a midweek room off season for 9 comp dollars.

Wow, I forgot the $2.00 blackjack. They were about the only casino with the surrender option also.

Wow, my old house. I use to be a dealer there until Bally's bought it. If I remember my training correctly, it was built around 1930. The Amazing Kreskin use to sit at my blackjack table. He was terrible. LOL Thanks for the memories Jeff.
@NuYawk Жыл бұрын
Yes 1930 during the depression. You would think someone like Kreskin would be a good card player! LOL! Stay tuned mafatone fro the whole hotel video coming soon! Have a great weekend!

Mafatone, did you ever see the movie based on the Amazing Kreskin?
@richardhales92 Жыл бұрын
Well, I guess that throws out the idea that the Amazing Kreskin was a card counter; he must have used something else rather than memory

Wow, you were not kidding when you said the bathroom was small! Even the doorway looked unusually narrow! However, the room and its furnishings are beautiful. I also like the murals of old Atlantic City in the hallway leading to your room. I look forward to your video of the whole Claridge Hotel!

The whole Claridge video is coming soon. Those murals are actually the elevator doors! It's a great place if you're into the history of Atlantic City. Thanks for watching Jersey Bev and have a great weekend!

I remember going to the Clardige in the 80's - 90's when it was a Casino Hotel. The casino was small and had this mezzanine level. There used to be tons of "call girls" working the tables !! They had a fast food type Chinese restaurant that was pretty good. Their buffet was fair. When Bally's took it over, they kept the casino open, called part of it "The "ridge" to sound cool. Had a DJ on the weekends. It was kind of close to the walkway that took you into Ballys. The rooms was HORRIBLE when it was part of Bally's. I remember getting a comp room from Ballys and they gave me a room in The Clardige Tower. It was disgusting. I wouldn't even consider sleeping in it. I walked all the way back to the front desk in Ballys, and demanded a better room. Ended up with a Bally's Tower Room. They eventually renovated some of the rooms. The room on this video looks like it still had the bed frame/night table combination from when Bally's renovated the rooms. You can see it's very modern looking and doesn't go with the rest of the furniture in the room (which actually looks nice and fits with the era of the hotel.

I guess the only redeeming quality to a hotel that's super old is if it's really really clean. That's the selling point.
@NuYawk Жыл бұрын
The Claridge will be having it's 100th anniversary in a few years. Just wondering what has gone on here over the years is also a selling point! In a video coming up soon, I'll show you around the beautiful rooms with classic furniture, and one of a kind chandeliers. It's kind of like staying at a museum! Oh yeah ... it's clean too! LOL! Thanks for watching Homelander OP! Have an awesome weekend!

I think this hotel was one of the first built in AC and was built for the super rich, with lavish gardens from it's front door to the boardwalk

Never stayed there but always loved the Claridge. Reminds me of the Empire State with its Art Deco exterior and lobby. Plent many hours there playing BJ 30 years ago as this was the only place in AC with surrender. I think the casino had 2 floors or was that the Sands next door? Unforgettable was a drunk, abusive Mickey Mantle as casino host.

Is the Claridge still a nice place to stay at?
@NuYawk5 ай бұрын
I enjoy staying there but keep in mind, the building is old, there is no casino and only one or two restaurants. However it is connected to Bally's, Wild Wild West and Caesars which offers casinos and lots of restaurants. If you want an old time art deco feel, it might be the place for you! I like that old roaring 1920's Great Gatsby theme the Claridge got going on and it always reminds me of The Shining too. I also appreciate the history of this hotel. The furnishings look beautiful but you weren't kidding about that tiny bathroom. There's barely enough room to fart in there! 🤣
