M1956 helmet's design was based on a type of medieval-era helmet. And M1956 was actually designed in 1942 to replace M1940, but for some reason (many be it is look like Soviet SSh-40 helmet so much), it was not adopted by Wehmacht during the war. Later it was chose for East German Army to make them different look from the West and to avoid the case that West army re-use M1940 helmet.

Mindestens drei Jahre Ausbildung.

Well they never made it in kevlar but if it had been made in Kevlar or ballistic nylon it would have been better, the main reason for the M56s shape was that it required less metal to make something on equal with a thicker helmet. As kevlar is lighter than steel most kevlar helmets can be thicker and still be comfortable to carry. To get back to your question though, a kevlar M56 would be very good, but a bit redundant due to the better properties of kevlar/ballistic nylons.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure the NVA adopted the Soviet variation of the “goose step”, it wasn’t a holdover of Prussian tradition. Edit: Yeah, the goose step here seems a lot more exaggerated (like the Soviet goose step), unlike the Prussian goose step where the leg isn’t thrown up as high 🤷‍♂️

+Andy Wilderness You are missing our Point. While I can see what you were going for, and that de-jure you are right, you have to see that we were talking about Military Tradition. Tell me, does the Bundeswehr have any Culture? Can you see anything from Prussian, Empire, Weimar, Reich Times? Nothing, the western Powers stripped Germany from it's Roots.

***** Lelel, that's you Opinion, my Friend. ^^ But, I would very much like to see some old-fashioned Prussian Culture in the Army again. Not only in the Army, but Germany in General. But, again, that's my Opinion.
@Steven-lk6ge
@Steven-lk6ge 8 жыл бұрын
***** Nah, I can't really agree on that one. "to a Path of Destruction", you're probably reffering to WW1/WW2, but, how do these 2 Wars, or even Nazi Germany, relate to the Prussian Ideas and Culture? I mean, Prussia, and Prussian Ideas, formed the Germany we knew until 1918. Now, was that a "Path of Destruction" Germany? No, it was not. Bad Decisions are at fault. Prussia was a immense Power in Europe, and that is what I wish for Germany to return to. | I agree with your latter Statement, the current System, and current Society in Germany has pretty much gone to trash..

@wasgaujaeger I dont think the chick was laughing at them. The monument had Stasi personnel all around it, and anyone causing problems would win a one way trip to the clink. In fact, unless I am mistaken, the Wachbatallion personnel were also from the Ministerium Des Innerns, meaning they had police powers.
