Thank you so much for this video! It's been hard to mentally picture how much space you really get from pole to wall so this was extremely helpful! How do they do in strong winds? Do you leave them up all 4 seasons or is there are time you take them down to lengthen their lifespan? We're at 6000ft. How do you think these would hold up in direct sunlight?

Hiya! So pleased it was helpful! To be honest the 7metre doesn't fair well at all in strong winds, there is just too much weight of canvas on the central pole and ours ripped a whole right through the top! The 5m one copes a bit better but if you were getting a storm coming it would be advisable to take the pole out of the centre until it passes. Most sites only use bell tents for the summer season, typically in the UK between April and September. Even with a wood burner in there they aren't really suitable for the winter. We use domes and yurts as they are much more wind resistant and have insulation to keep them warm but we still only operate until October. I think in direct sunlight over a period of time the uv would start to weaken the canvas. Glamping sites that use bell tents normally sell them off for half the purchase price at the end of the season and buy new for the next season. Where in the world are you? Thanks so much! Vicki

@@TractorsandCream We're in New Mexico. Trying to find something to keep warm in early spring when it's still below freezing some nights. It's proving harder than expected. lol. Maybe I need to look into domes. Any brand you've had luck with?

@@simplysaida we use a UK manufacturer called TruDomes who have been brilliant on customer service and will be manufacturing in the US soon so might be worth looking them up.

@@TractorsandCream Thank you so much! I have a few friends in the UK so if I get desperate maybe someone can ship me one tee hee!

@@simplysaida ah that's handy! They ship worldwide anyway I think. We like domes because they are more wind resistant than yurts and we get very damp winters so have to take the yurts down but the domes are good to stay up all year. We've done a few videos on our dome set ups so let us know if you have any questions. Good luck with it all, Vicki

In the process of starting our own family bell tent glamping business, we were going to start with 3 5m Bell tents with stove holes, we aiming to focus on couples or adults only, would you get a normal sized double bed in the 5m tent?
@TractorsandCream
@TractorsandCream 3 жыл бұрын
Hiya, yes depending on how high the headboard is you should get a double bed in. We've only ever put a low futon in there, so I would go for a bed that is slightly lower if you want a bigger headboard, just because of the shape of it. We chopped the legs off one bed I think to make it a bit lower! Good luck with your new venture. Let us know how it goes or if there is anything we can help with. Thanks so much, Vicki

Hi, thanks for the vlog. Thers no need for heating in the tent?
@TractorsandCream

Hi, thank you! We only use the bell tents in the summer for the odd extra family so we don't need to put heating in but if you were using it all season I would get a little wood burner or electric heater if you've got a hook up. Thanks, Vicki

Can you park next to the tent, or do you have to park in a car park and transfer your things?
@TractorsandCream
@TractorsandCream 3 жыл бұрын
Here you can park right next to your yurt or dome to unload and then we have a car park about 100m away which we ask guests to park in during their stay. Hope that helps. Thanks, Vicki

How do these hold up being on the ground for months on end? and water issues? Debating on getting one to live in offgrid for a year or so... :)

Hi! I don't think a bell tent would be the best option for longer term living. Any bit of wind and it has to come down! You could put a wood burner in but it would get very cold. I guess it depends which country you are in really, our winters are very damp, cold and windy so definitely not suitable but if you are somewhere with a drier climate then it might be ok. You don't tend to get water issues as the zipped in groundsheet works well. I think a yurt would be a better option but depends if you have someone to help you build it as it's a 2 person build. Hope that helps! Vicki

Love your videos! I’ve been considering purchasing a 5m bell tent. Can you recommend a particular brand?
@TractorsandCream
@TractorsandCream 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Our large one is karma canvas which I would probably not recommend just because we only had it up one week before it got ripped in the wind and they weren't very helpful on the customer service side. Our 5 metre is from the bell tent shop and I liked the fact that they had reinforced the ground sheet where the central pole sits and they had provided spare canvas and ground sheet material in case you get a hole. Delivery was also really fast. Bell tent boutique and boutique camping are also good makes but as long as you look for a proper canvas one they are all very similar. Are you based in the uk? Lots of glamping sites sell off second hand ones at the end of the season for cheaper if you don't want to buy a brand new one. Thanks, Vicki

I’m wanting to start a glamming business with a bell tent. I don’t want to do any decorating.....just basically setting it up/breaking it down at peoples houses. How much do you suggest charging per hour? Overnight rentals? Is 5M/7M the height or the width?? If it is height...how wide is the 7M vs. 5M?
@TractorsandCream
@TractorsandCream 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! The 5m/7m is the width of the tent. Are you in the UK? Here I know of companies that do overnight rentals, I'm not sure it would be worth your while just setting it up hourly as you would have to factor in the delivery time, set-up time, take down and collection so most companies would just rent it for the weekend or minimum of one night. You would also have to factor in insurance costs and you would want to take a breakage deposit from the client too in case they damage the tent. I know for a fully furnished bell tent set up here people charge around £125 a night, but if you are furnishing it then it would be more like £60-£80 a night. Hope that helps! Thanks, Vicki

It seems to me the most important purpose of this tent is to convert it into a bedroom. Why not set ip a room with one bed, a couch with a TV screen, a shower, a closet, a small office.... nonono.... tents are ONLY used for .... sleeping. I see only beds, beds and more beds
@TractorsandCream
@TractorsandCream 3 жыл бұрын
Well I would say yes, this tent is just for sleeping. We encourage spending time outdoors away from screens!
