RTX is a revolution in real time graphics! its going to create such beautiful graphics in the coming years, that have real time reflection, ambient occlusion and light casting without the developer having to spend ages tweaking and baking the ambient occlusion, prebakes shadow, placing cube maps, baking cubemaps, having weird light jumps going from interior to exterior to fix, no weird reflection issues in scopes of guns (from the cubemaps), its going to save development time and give more realistic/accurate games!

1440p is considered higher than HD. Therefore you'll have to pay more tbh... I'd recommend the rtx 2070 for best results. But 2060 is enuf

I agree with both of you but I'm still going with the RTX 2060 and here's why. On newegg the GIGABYTE Geforce RTX 2060 Gaming OC 6G Graphics Card, 3 x WINDFORCE Fans, 6GB 192-Bit GDDR6 is $379 (in the U.S market) with a choice of either Anthem, Battlefield V or Metro Exodus. I want Exodus which is a $60 dollar game. So if I take that in to account, then the card is basically $329. If the games weren't included then the 1660ti would be a clear winner for me. If you don't want any of those games then the 1660ti is the better buy. Either way both cards are beautiful. I've enjoyed your comparison videos as they were very helpful for me in making the most we'll informed decision's for my new build. Cheers mate!

Outstanding comparison! Most KZbinrs either try too many simultaneous comparisons at once and confuse the heck out of things. I appreciate the details and time spent to make a great video. What monitor did you use? I have a free sync monitor and not sure if it will work with with a card other thank a 20 series.

as of 25th may '19 , with new drivers my 2060 performance has been increased and exactly equivalent to my other GTX 1080. NVIDIA is doing great job in optimizing drivers!

I would like to see the difference between the two since I'm in 2 minds for upgrading... I haven't tested that CPU myself, but doesn't sound too bad, I guess with that same voltage I can get my 8700k to 5ghz but yeah varies by chip and I haven't tried overclocking the 9600k yet

MiNi Weeddeerz dude ive had a gtx 660 for over 5 years. 3 years is way too short and considering the price of decent graphics cards alone, it really makes console seem to be a better choice for people wanting to save money. For seige pls make sure t-aa is off because the t-as is set to 50% of 1080p so it outputs half of 1080 then applies aa to smooth it out

It's the default setting though, I always test the games with the default presets, which I feel like is usually what most people will just leave them on.

Right now after the release of RTX 3000, RTX 2060 makes a lot of sense even if you're not going to be using ray tracing. If you can overclock it, its the new budget king, and prices are about to fall for this one soon.

Thanks! I haven't tested VR myself, but I heard in most cases a GTX 1060 is the minimum recommendation, so in theory the 2060 should be pretty decent for it, and it's good for 1440p too. If you're after 4K though I'd be going for a 2080 minimum.

Hey Jarrod! Great Video as always. I would get the 1660 Ti specifically that Gaming X Model. I love the look of it. Honestly the difference between the two cards is at most 15% from what I have seen and not really worth it unless for some reason you really want Ray Tracing and DLSS.

Yeah in gaming there is a small performance gap but in rendering and other stuff 2060 wins easy. Cuda Cores : 1660ti - 1536 / 2060 - 1920. But yeah, for 1080 60 fps gaming 1660 is better choice :)

Why we using the high settings for the comparison? using ultra eliminates other bottlenecks and pure gpu performance is seen. Also people buying these definitely crank the settings to max unless its a multiplayer game

I used max settings in a previous comparison and people complained, the argument was most people don't actually use max settings because you get very little difference compared to one or two steps down, I agreed and decided to use second highest settings.

1660 TI is plenty for video editing in my personal opinion. If you're using it in an external GPU enclosure though expect to lose some performance due to thunderbolt overheads.

PSU sounds fine, I haven't tested an 8400 myself so hard to say really, it's probably fine though - I guess if you have issues you can look at upgrading the CPU later down the line.

When you say very high frame rates were achieved at lower resolutions for Overwatch much FPS was it around? I'm thinking of buying a 1440p, 144hz, 27 inch montior and I have the same specs as the video. Do you think I could get away with the high resoltuion and achieve over 144hz on shooters such as Overwatch and the upcoming Call of Duty? Also I think when playing games that dont require quick shooting I wont even notice having under 100 fps.

I think the 2060 is the way to go if you can squeeze it into your budget. It's pretty easy to get a good one for $350, whereas the 1660ti starts at around $280. A 25% increase in price for a 20% increase in performance doesn't sound great but if you start going deeper into benchmarking benchmarks you'll see that the 2060 doesn't care about cranking up the texture quality near as much, meaning that that it'll simply do the job longer.

I ordered the MSI 1660Ti Gaming X as well.Can't wait for it to come.It's the fastest card of the bunch.Better get that card over a cheap low clocked 2060 that's gonna cost around 330€.I'm saying this because if you want a high tier 2060, then go for Gaming X or Z but be prepared to pay 380€.I'd say 1660Ti is the winner.

For me, the answer is always buy the best you can afford. I recently built a whole new system after a long break from pc gaming and with all the other parts I had to buy I ended up getting the 1660ti. I'm very happy with it! Just hoping it'll be up to some VR shenanigans if we get a rift S come out soon

Hello Jarrod. Can you test out Amd Ryzen 5 3600 with GTX 1660 Ti or RTX 2060? There was this youtuber doing game tests with those CPU and GPU combinations but the 1% low fps results in some of those games are strangely very low. Can you check it out? The i5-9400f have higher 1% low fps than Ryzen 5 3600 in some video game that i saw. I might get i5 9400f instead of Amd Ryzen 5 3600

Thanks! For 1080p you will definitely want 144Hz at least, as that graphics will give you high refresh rates so a 144Hz panel will look great, you could probably even go 1440p 144Hz for most titles which would look sweet.

im thinking of getting a 2060 for christmas since prices may go down as a result of the 30 series, they're both still very competent graphics cards. depending on your psu and budget you could go for a 3070 which is around $100 more than the 2060 and a heck ton more powerful

Laptops are quite different to what's shown in this video as these are desktop GPUs, I haven't yet made the same comparison for laptops (waiting to get the right machines to do it with). Depends entirely on the games you plan on playing and settings used though.

Great review, I really like brushed metal back plate and compact design on that MSI card. Your review made me feel a little better about buying 1660 Ti (Gigabyte Gaming OC with 3 fans) last Friday for 509 Aud. I have aging x79 system with 3930k, 16gb DDR3 2133 (quad channel) and now dead GTX 480. After GTX 480, this card feels so fast at 1920x1200 however I regret not going for RTX 2060 which was only 50 Aud more at the time of purchase (Galax model without back plate). I feel as RTX 2060 with more cuda cores and ray tracing features may be more future proof card and serve me longer if i upgrade to upcoming Zen 2 or Comet Lake cpu in year or so.... I also think that TU116-400 (1660 Ti) with much smaller die size over TU106 (2060) should cost 50-70$ less here in Australia. Production costs are lot lower, but it seems none of it transferred to the consumer. 1660 Ti seems to be engineered for a particular price point and it only makes sense with cheaper coolers keeping the cost down and separating it from slightly pricier yet faster 2060.

Indeed it is. :-) After a few days with my card I’m convinced triple fan 1660ti was the right choice. My card performs great and overclocks rather well while staying cool and quiet. I can get 2105MHz on the core and 7200Mhz mem overclock (using MSI afterburner). Max temps are around 62C with 66% fan speed. OC gives me around 5-10% improvement over the stock card but only on at higher resolution (2560x1600 my old CRT, Sony GDM FW900). I don’t think this is far from stock RTX 2060 now. In 3D Mark it scores around 7 200 with 3930k @ 4.7Ghz. (I usually I keep CPU at 4.3GHz and lower vcore with stock GPU clocks). I can see some CPU bottleneck and no improvement at lower resolution with overclocked GPU. Sometimes GPU is running at 85-90% but still I am quite happy with it. No need for RTX2060 in my case. Keep up the good work.

Cobra I have the same situation but I decided to stick with the 1660 ti because it’s a beast for 1080p gaming and I’ve heard nothing but great reviews from it. And with the lower tier 2060s they tend to overheat a bit and I just didn’t want to take the risk for a few more FPS

My wife just got me an EVGA GTX 1660 ti SC for Xmas. It's a huge upgrade from my GTX 570. With an average of 12% between these cards, I'm ok with getting the best bang for my buck with the 1660 ti.
