Nvidia stock split will let more investors in, adviser says

Nvidia (NVDA) is gearing up for a 10-for-1 stock split after the market close. Winthrop Capital Chief Investment Officer Adam Coons joins Wealth! to discuss whether this provides a a new buying opportunity for the chip giant as the AI race heats up.
Coons explains that while the split allows more investors into the stock, "the downside of it is, though, is that large share prices usually are positioned for institutional investors who tend to be more long term. And their decision making is long-term. And so they're not as visceral in their reactions to maybe an earnings release or some other news event that would cause them to sell out of an entire position relative to retail investors, who would buy in and they might have a more emotional attachment to the stock." He notes that the stock split will open up an opportunity for investors who have sat on the sidelines as the price becomes more attractive.
He adds that "the whole AI pie is growing," as the technology seeps into all corners of the market. Coons points to the cybersecurity sector and companies like CrowdStrike (CRWD) as an area getting a boost from the technology. In addition, he explains that Qualcomm (QCOM) is well-positioned as AI becomes integrated into laptops.

Solid company, killing earnings, cheap to buy after split will give you wealth. Went thru this with Apple, Amazon and Tesla split. Once they had a split, retail investors bought in masses then wealth creation was the result. nVIDIA is king !!

Not much substance from this interview, you’re best off doing your own research on Nvidia stock split. To sum it up, investors/traders that own the stock, will get more shares. Investors/traders that don’t currently own the stock, will be able to buy it a lower quote, the other fundamentals are what you need to look out for.

Yeah that's nonsense. Nvidia is the master in accelerated compute. They're taking their strengths that started in GPUs to SoC chipsets (like the one used in the Nintendo switch) to datacenter GPUs and all tied together in Nvidias deep software stack. This is not much different than apple essentially leveraging their strength and success with the iPod to iPhone to iPad, MacBook, etc. it's a similar product playing off the same success and strengths. Critics keep saying competitors can "catch up" for the last 20-25 years, what competition did Nvidia truly have? They've been by far the market leader in accelerated compute and there's no close second place. That can't be said for very many industries.

As soon as he said Nvidia was a "one trick pony" he lost me. Nvidia is at the epicentre of AI , and holds 85% market share. The next closest rivals are far behind. They also have proprietary software that makes it all work, and will open new markets in AI robotics. We are still in the early innings, and to be dismissive of Nvidia at this stage is foolish. The forward PE is also historically not considered expensive. There is still lots of runway left in this stock.

If he had talked to their customer base and the developers that use Nvidia's solutions and why they prefer it over others, they'd see why it's not a "one-trick pony" that only simply sells GPUs. "One-trick ponies" and fads don't end up being trillion dollar companies. Instead, this CIO is looking at NVDA, the stock, while not even understanding Nvidia, the company.
