Definitely think the game would’ve been a lot closer and down to the wire if the umpires were consistent. But credit to the aussies for playing with such skill and precision. This diamonds team was so clean and sharp with their ball really amazing to come back and watch.

Watching this game in 2023. Wow. If the same efforts put in in the third and final quarter were put in the first and second quarters by newzealand, maybe something could have happened. Australian shooter is wonderful but defended very closely such that she does not get a chance to get closer to the pole, you can have few rebounds. Tutaia/Fulau 's distance shoot was magnificent. Good work Auz

If you don’t hear what the refs say you just raise ur hand and they should repeat themselves but if they don’t see you put your hand up or they ignore you, tell the associations supervisors and then they should take care of it. Happens to me all the time🙄😂

Interestingly, one of the umpires, Gary Burgess, recently commented on *that* penalty (1:15:19) with CBass on twitter. Iirc he said that there was a lot of confusion about where the penalty had to be set, he did blow his whistle again after Medhurst passed off, and it was extremely loud in there, so he gave CBass the benefit off the doubt that she hadn't heard him properly.

I agree that the umpire is always biased there always seems to be mistakes by new zealand but not australia when clearly their body contacts are way more noticeable than new zealand's. What i do find frustrating on new zealands part though is that the GK keep on guarding the GS from behind her when clearky the GS has a sharper and agressive movement. She should try to move in front of the GS cause she would be of no use when she is behind the GS during the attacking of australia's team

The umpiring was really bad I found sooo many girls stepping and using contact ( outside rules) on both teams, I mean what is this a game of basket ball? It wasn't unless it was right under their noses that the umpire called some one out.even then sometimes they wouldn't call it out and nobody would stop them either. My school umpire is stricter than that and most of the time their a student. But overall good game.

Everyone's talking about how 35:09 is footwork but it's not. She lands on her left foot and her left foot does not step at all. Near the end she lifts up her left foot, standing only on her right foot and does not put her left foot down till she has released the ball. She did nothing wrong. (I'm an Australian supporter)
