I also appreciated this being addressed head-on. The listener question our Hosts took seemed almost to hint at the root cause I am hoping got Korbin here. Too young sometimes fails to understand the repercussions of their actions (or inactions), especially when in the public eye. As noted by our great Hosts, training and careful management are necessary. I don't think its possible (or desirable) to have group-think though. People will have different experiences and opinions and that diversity drives innovation. But team cohesiveness seems critical here so there are limits which may be greater at the highest levels.

I think people are learning and people are changing and growing but still make mistakes amd should be able to back out their mistakes and learn from them. I'm straight but wow how could she say that but I accepted her apology we need to forgive mistakes people often don't say the right thing or even what they mean. Being open means being open to teaching others aswell.

I think liking the meme/reposting it?.... celebrating Rapinoe's injury and devastating career ending is very different to having an alternative viewpoint. It's hard to believe that an elite athlete in any sport or at any age would consider the event amusing or miraculous. I'm wondering if she is just unintelligent because even if she dislikes Rapinoe or her sexuality she'd be silly to think that there d be no repercussions. I hope she gets some help but suspect this stuff will make things very difficult while she is a public figure.

Loved the episode! The VAR in the cooler should be called "the vooler". As for the length of matches, VAR should be viewed by a third ref upstairs and make a decision within a minute. No shade thrown at the on field ref, they can't see everything in real time. Keep up the interesting work.

Rocky Rodriguez wasn't offside on the Angel City disallowed goal - Fuller (#17 for Angel City) was in an offside position and when the ball came off of Claire Lavogez's (#94 for Current) knee (a deflection, so offside isn't reset), Fuller made a play at the ball. She didn't appear to connect with the ball, but by coming back from an offside position to make a play on the ball, she became part of the play and it was ruled (correctly, IMO) offside.

Thank you for talking about the LGBTQ+ safe spaces in womens soccer. For me it's important to hear straight women talk about these things too. The allyship is so very important, especially when these things come up in womens soccer. We need to know how the queer players feel about these issues. But it's important to hear and see the perspective of the other players too. This can only be a safe space if straight allies speak out and defend the space as well as LGBTQ+ players.

Re Korbin...I think her immaturity and lack of worldliness got in the way here. it was interesting with regard to the question by Anna about teens playing pro soccer. Sam makes a good point. They need protection physically and in terms of managing and being responsible role models representatives...This would be where family structures and beliefs have to be set aside IF they're not in line with the league's standards. That gets tricky when the player is young and still under the influence of parents...plus have fairly shallow viewpoints which really shouldn't be being aired. No...not everyone is entitled to an opinion. I wish there was a law that required that you had to be an informed credible source in order to publish your views particularly if your views could cause harm to others.

Pretty damn good when you think about it. So essentially. Korbin was called out. She admitted she was was wrong and apologized. Sammy, Lynn and a fair amount of the Soccer community. "Sorry, Not good enough, time to cancel." Its all in what was not said. Speaking as a member of the LGBTIA community, if we don't stop eviscerating people and open up with some civil discourse and grace, then there will be continued hate on both sides. I venture to say that more effective change can be made by directly addressing someone before starting a social media assault. This type of behavior does not in fact bring acceptance and make spaces safer, what is does is push people deeper inside themselves and makes them resentful and breeds deeper hate. I've seen it, we continue to see it, and to be hones, we need to do better on both sides.

Being conservative and christian is fine, a LOT of USWNT players have been conservative, christian and both at the same time. But not a lot of USWNT have used their platform to amplify testimonies of people saying god saved them from being gay. Having a different religion or political alignment is fine. Going against human rights is not. As a queer person, I'd feel horrible seeing her at the locker room again the next day, knowing what she believes about me. So yeah, apologizing is a first step in the right direction, but only a first step. And the wording in her apology left a lot to desire.

Wrong. Korbin is a homophobe and has expressed it in a way that reaches the masses. Pinoe’s post was a perfect response without being disrespectful. People just don’t like Pinoe because of her views and what’s she done to spread activism. If any other player posted what Pinoe did, no one could care or say she “slammed” Korbin.. which she didn’t. People thinking she did are the same people calling people who are targeted by homophobia sensitive but people like you and Korbin are the ones that are sensitive because you can’t understand why your “beliefs” are ridiculed. By using her platform to share and amplify homophobic and transphobic views, Albert is spreading hate towards these vulnerable communities and putting them more at risk of discrimination, hate and violence. 2. The USWNT - her employer - has a set of values and these actions don't align with them. They promote diversity, inclusion and tolerance; her actions don't reflect that. Its the same as any other job, if you don't align with the company's values, you're out. 3. If someone's views are harmful to others, then you aren't required to tolerate or respect them. For example, I am not a christian, but if someone is, then I will respect that (as I do with my christian friends). Now, if they were to use their religion to invalidate someone's gender identity or sexual orientation, then I wouldn't tolerate their views, bc their beliefs are now hurting others. So no, Megan isn't obliged to tolerate hateful opinions (and neither is anyone else). 4. How is Megan Rapinoe toxic? All she did was post a message calling for a reflection on whether our views and ideas help generate more inclusion, safety and tolerance, or if they actually exclude others. And then, she reinstated her support for trans people, a vulnerable community. How is that toxic? In fact, she was SO kind as to only address the homophobia and transphobia (and to do it indirectly, without calling Albert out by name), because she very well could've addressed how Albert liked social media posts celebrating the fact that she was injured and implying that it was god's will. Now if there is anything toxic and just truly poor sportsmanship it is that. We are simply drawing the line at respect for human rights. Respecting the right of all people to exist safely, no matter who they are or who they love. And yes, if you promote content that implies that being queer is something you need saving from, well don't be surprised when the gay people who lead the organizations, coach the teams, play alongside you or are fans of the sport no longer want you there. Especially when they have never done anything to you.

So what exactly happened with Korbin? She liked a comment that rebuffed what Rapinoe had said from the end of last World Cup? How is that a negative thing and how does that have anything to do with inclusion, tolerance or safe spaces. 1) Megan clearly insulted any person who believes in God with her comment, a comment which was immature, but did she apologize for it (I don't know, can someone tell me if she did)? Look, I agree that Korbin shouldn't be associating or rolling with people that are mean or make light of bad experiences people face, but what does that have anything to do with anti LGBT? Megan was a jerk and made a hurtful comment to anyone who is religious, and Korbin, who I am assuming believes in God, clapped back. That's it. The fact that people have somehow jumped to the conclusion that Korbin is discriminating against Atheists or other religions is INSANE. Megan is crying foul for people standing up to her poor, jerkish and immature behavior. This has NOTHING to do with religious belief or LGBT. The vice grip that Megan has on all things US Soccer, the USWNT and US Soccer Fans is crazy; she will always be able to deflect and kind of personal responsibility for anything she does, right or wrong, by crying "discrimination" ... and everyone just blindly supports her and assumes that she is in someway defending LGBT, or the right thing. I am worried that USWNT players are not allowed to have any kind of opinion or belief; this sounds like "thought/ belief policing...," which is not what the USA and freedom of speech/ belief is about. I am worried that the USWNT has enshrined beliefs that are anti-American and have somehow convinced themselves that they are upholding values, i.e., a safe space, which they actually are against. You talk about any form of intolerance being unacceptable, what about how you are treating Korbin. Why is Korbin being dragged through the mud for this? Is she not allowed to have opinions or beliefs? Because that sounds like intolerance to me... a dangerous form of intolerance.

I think she liked a post that was a testimony of a man who stopped being gay and transgender. That's why they are saying she is antigay. But that is clearly not the case as she has lots of gay friends

@@Awesome30034and i think its perfectly reasonable to want people to ACCEPT THEMSELVES rather than think they need to do a huge plastic surgery to somewhat look like how they wish they did. do we think michael jackson ever felt happier about his image as he did more and more plastic surgeries? it usually seems to make the person look uglier than their original self (obviously not including something like burn victims in this but a person who is healthy and wanting to change themselves). i dont agree with trying to use religion to make them realize that, but i do think it is better for them to see a therapist than have surgery.

@@scintillating14 Most people are getting onto her for being a Christian. The twitter post that started the entire controversy was from "ALEXANDPRESS" literally only mentioned her being a Christian. They do align with Christianity? Im confused as to what u think Christianity is. Being happy for a young brother that was saved by the Lord's Grace is worth being blackballed now... yet lynn sam and megan call for "tolerance" and "inclusion" while being intolerant and excluding that young man and korbin. Also being apposed to people who blaspheme God aligns w Christianity too. but I think korbin was just responding to megans disrespectful joke about God not existing cuz she got injured w another disrespectful joke.
