NX Assembly Mass Properties: Variable Mass for NX Deformable Components [NX 2406]

With the June 2024 release of NX, the author of a Deformable Component can now specify whether it should be considered as a classic Deformable Component with fixed mass, or as “stock” material with variable mass!
This video walks through the original historical intent for NX Deformable Components (they were originally envisioned as a way to model parts that are manufactured in a specific shape, but then stretched, bent, or otherwise deformed into position within the context of a specific destination assembly application). It then describes the "off-brand" usage that creative customers pioneered many years ago.
As Deformable Component authoring was upgraded in NX 2406, we added a new toggle that enables the Author to specify which Mass Properties behavior is desired for a specific Deformable Component!

This other video should be helpful in this regard: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hp6wcp6Dd92do8U The key is choosing the centerline curve as the desired "input" for the deformation. Deformable Components can have either geometric or numerical inputs that guide their deformation. Does this help?
