Do you have any tutorial on normal and persistent relations?

Hi - thanks for your question. We've reached out to the NX team of experts to see what is available. Stay tuned ... Thanks - #TeamSiemens

Hello again - thanks for your patience. The team noted that while there is no tutorial specific to your question, they do recommend these two videos which might help: sie.ag/448ZF1S and sie.ag/3YAth7o

Turn on create persistent relations at the start of every session. Then constrain all lines horizontal, vertical, tangent, etc. then, add dimensions. That’s as close as you can get to previous version where it made sense to an engineer.

The whole workflow for the new sketcher is convoluted and wrong. The amount of mental gymnastics used to justify it being foisted on NX users is absolutely insane. persistent visible constraints and explicit constraint creation are not throwbacks to an ancient time. Using some terrible AI (that makes all the wrong choices) to try to infer my design intent is absolutely wrong. Sketching was not broken. It was logical, concise and intuitive. Please show me the droves of people raving about how the new sketcher is better.

A common workflow that works better with new sketcher is trimming sketches. With the old traditional constraints, it worked much better if you never trimmed sketches because constraints would have to manually readded after trimming. The new sketcher does a better job of inferring the relations that you originally intended. I agree with you, that I grew up with the mentality of keeping the sketches untrimmed and relying on selection intent. But I find that the sketch relations can do a better job of inferring intent than selection intent when large changes are made to the sketch with edits.

@@MarkLawryCan't say I ever ran in to that. I thought it automatically created constraints when trimming sketch entities in the past but I might be wrong. I also find that selecting things from the sketch rather than consuming the whole sketch in to a feature to be dangerous and bad practice. I always tried to consume a whole sketch rather than try to parse out specific curves or loops. Doing that the model history is typically more robust.

@@MarkLawryi couldn’t agree more. The new sketcher is horrible. Not fit for designing machines. Everyone in my department agrees.

Best advice would be not to use NX. Each update they take away more features and make the functionality worse.
