Yes being a resident of Canada is a big hoop for IMG and is compulsory to apply for Carms.

Thanks Shreya, I had figured as much but I’m glad to have the confirmation - do you know how long residency applications can take when someone first applies? I’m often asked about that too

Glad it helped :) when CaRMS does it’s yearly presentation, they stratify applicants based on categories like “years since graduation.” I’m sure they review everyone on a cases to case basis, but current medical practice / experience is undoubtably an advantage

we really have some great docs working in uoft gen surg. if I am lucky, maybe I will get to meet Gavin if he rotates through my clinic with one of our docs haha! Good for him though. My own cousin is a graduate of UWI's med program and is in their gen surg program in Trinidad

If you see him walking around, definitely let him know that you saw the video :) I’m sure he’d like that. And that’s cool to know that UofT has some official partnerships with some of these schools

Hey Luca, I hope you are doing well! I appreciate that you may not be able to answer this, but how did Dr Tyndale go about obtaining his permanent residency in Canada prior to applying for medical residency? I'm aware that IMGs must have Canadian citizenship or permanent residence. I was therefore wondering, does an IMG applicant need to be living/present in Canada for a fixed amount of time, receive his/her PR card, and then apply to Canadian residency? Or can you obtain PR whilst you're still working as a doctor in your home country prior to applying to residency in Canada? I know this is a loaded question, but any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

Hello sir! I have a question that no one can answer to me exactly! I’m from Afghanistan and I whenever i pass Mccqe1 examination then what will be the next step? Like for NAC-OSCE i should be there in Canada, but when i pass qe1 then they give me visa for Nac-osce or when i schedule nac-osce then they give me visa? Can you explain it to me Sir! A lack of information about Mcc is the big issue i’ve face these days

Can a Canadian doctor work in USA without repeating the residency all over again
@nxtgenmd
@nxtgenmd Жыл бұрын
It depends on the specialty and the state. The process for Canadians going to the states is unfortunately more complicated than most people think In many cases. If there’s a particular state that you think you may do some work in at some point, your best bet would be to look into the requirements early and plan accordingly 🤙 the USMLE exams are also helpful in applying for a work visa
