No, they're advertising it as full electronic color paper display. And there's been tons of people that are receiving misinformation and buying this thinking it's epaper, which is why we are doing videos to tell people that it is not Not once did we ever advocate for the company that they are indeed using e-paper, quite the opposite, we have made it very clear that this device is not epaper in any way So no, we haven't been doing too much of this lately, these are the items we have received to do reviews and comparisons, so we are respecting the process and doing our work as a company

Hello. I understand the purpose of the comparison. Thanks for alleviating the confusion! My question: I can spend hours reading an ereader. Can you do the same with the Nxtpaper Color e-Paper? Can this LCD display and its "arrangements" really alleviate eye strain?. Thanks

It's still an lcd where each pixel has a light behind it. I don't think does much for the eyes. Can someone comment on this?

E Ink itself is lees eye straining. But the color technology uses subpixel. I'm worried that these could stress your eyes (overall less than LCD)

e ink in natural light will always be best. The nxtpaper is still the best if you still want a lcd screen. It has dc dimming which is probably the most important thing for eye health. I don't think its so much the artificial light that causes issues but the high flicker rate of pulse width modulation on most screens. DC dimming along with bunch of other nxtpaper features would make it still decent for eye health.

Great review by the way, but I think you need to make it more clear in the title of your videos this so-called NXTPAPER in this particular device is just an andriod LCD tablet with some software tweaks branded as colour e-paper by TCL and not actually epaper device of any kind. As I came into this review thinking it was some new tech they just made and put into the market. And Isn't it misinformation and dodgy false advertising? and who are their target buyers? To be honest, I personally haven't seen anyone using TCL devices in China or in UK (I spend aprox50:50 of my time in both countries per year), I mostly just see actual colour or B&W ereaders from the likes of Kindle, BOOX, Bigme, Xiaomi etc, and tablets like ipad, ipad pro, or samsung, xiaomi or huawai etc. hardly see anyone use TCL mobile/tablet devices nowadays, yeah in china you might see a TCL TV every so often but that's it.

Because it's a marketing gimmick, just like you said and anyone comparing this to an actual e-ink technology screen needs to stop it. As you said all these are just LCD screens with matte finish marketed with a catchy "epaper" tag on them trying to confuse buyers.

I do believe NXTPAPER is interesting for those who have never had either an ereader or a tablet. A good compromise. Those who own both an ereader and a tablet know very well the pros and cons of each device. I have a feeling the NXTPAPER technology might be perfect for mangas as I can't seem to be happy neither on an ereader nor on a tablet. To me, the former is too 'blurred', the latter is too bright 🤷🏻‍♂️

I suggest before commenting, to buy both e_reader and nxtpaper to see for yourself. I have both, and I prefer my nxtpaper 11. Yes, there are trade-offs like nxtpaper will never be as power efficient or as good as a reflective screen under sunlight vs an e-reader. BUT, I really prefer nxtpaper due to the relatively superior lcd refresh rate, superior color. It offers the best reading experience vs other lcd tablet, including my Samsung S8. It is an interesting product that will only get better with every new version. In the tech world, there are always trade-offs, there is no one 'perfect' product that offers everything...

I have the Boox Ultra Tab C - it's good until I try to watch videos. It's not a compromise, it's just a no go, straight a simple. And I think this statement is applicable to all e-ink devices. No way you can watch a movie on these and enjoy it. So, I ordered the nxtpaper because I really want something easier on my eyes that also gives me a normal video viewing experience, when I travel longer distances and I want to watch a movie on the train, for example. I wish they had a Windows laptop with this screen.

I appreciate this comparison video. At first, I am interested on how the epaper is like an ereader and tablet. But in the end, I’ll stick to my Kobo Libra 2 for reading. And I am looking forward to experience as if I am writing on a paper on my next ereader. For now, I’ll stay inform with the eink and epaper technology via this channel. Kudos!

If NXTPAPER is reflective are you sure they are using a back light or front light to provide extra illumination in darker evinronments?

It’s a plain LCD now, in the 2021 announcement, they promised R-LCD but switched to a normal LCD and still calls it e-paper. Same product name, still call it e-paper, but removed the term r-lcd. It’s absolutely deceptive. If someone sues them for false advertising, TCL would lose. To answer your question, it’s backlight.

So Basically, E Paper Devices Battery Life Last Longer Than LCD Display, E Paper Isn't Using Light Technology To Display Whatever Currently On Screen Which Save Battery. And Also E Paper Display Has A Better Feeling Writing Than The Smooth Glass Display On The Average Android Tablet.

It is not an e-reader, it is an Android tablet with an epaper screen. An reader would be like an Amazon Kindle The big me device with Android 11, Google play, four microphones, two cameras, two speakers, fingerprint unlock, and a SIM card slot is not for reading books

So the point and market for people who like ereaders are the battery and the availability of your whole library. Not to watch videos. A media device is something else. The technology for an efficient ereader to play crisp videos are not out yet. With that being said still why would this market downgrade to an inefficient lcd screen for what theyre initially wanting its a very mundane argument and insulting peoples intelligence.

Wow, this isn't even as good as other things I've seen. I was expecting something like my Google Home Hub's ambient mode, where it perfectly adjusts the color grading and brightness to match the environment, and give the impression that you're looking at a paper photo. It's not perfect obviously, but it's close enough to fool me 99% of the time when it's just a static picture or text. This TCL tech doesn't even seem to get close to that, unless there's a setting you're missing somewhere.
