My dad use to beat my mom when I was younger. My older brothers would just watch from their rooms. Finally when I was old enough, 7-8, I would use my body to guard her and that would stop my dad. I think he was finally aware that someone was going to take action if he kept hurting my mom. He slowly stopped beating her because every time they’d argue, I’d stand right by her in case he hit her.
