As someone from the south bronx, I haaate when people say that mott haven is "up and coming" and a hot neighborhood 😕 it's not, it's just being gentrified and us long time residents that have been here decades/generations are being priced out by yuppies and new luxury buildings.
@mike_4044 жыл бұрын
That’s happening all around NYC. It’s just what every city soon comes to and it’s inevitable..

“Up and coming” is the same as saying gentrification. The long time residents that have lived there never thought of buying buildings in that area when it was cheap. Then the wealthy have come in from elsewhere and bought up everything. It’s your fault. Y’all should have thought of buying a long time ago and those buildings would be yours to charge astronomical rents to yuppies. I’m not even saying this to be an a-hole.
@182atenasb4 жыл бұрын
Michael Knight oh yeah I’m sure the people there living paycheck to paycheck would have love to buy buildings and renovate them. Fucking idiot.
@182atenasb4 жыл бұрын
Up and coming is another word for gentrification. I love all the new shops and restaurants because it’s creating jobs. However the prices to rent are insane. They’re trying to get 2k for a studio which is in insane in the Bronx. And people are really falling for this scam.

Awesome to see an update. You guys look amazing. Apartment hunting can be so crazy. Three years ago when we were hunting it was so frustrating. Finally I put an ad online with our needs. We actually had someone email and they had exactly what we wanted, below our budget. I agree on the landlords. I used to do property management and loved showing suites. I m in a row house and most of the houses are rentals. I have neighbours who can't get their landlord to fix anything. I'm lucky that mine know that we try our best to fix it first, if we cant they do it asap. When you mentioned furniture making, there is a youtuber named Andy Rawls from texas who makes furniture. His channel is great to watch.

I love how the video was set up especially how you juxtaposed the layout plan with the red dot and the footage of the apartment. It was very useful and I appreciate the extra work it took. Please work on the voice volume and/or cadence, because I get that it’s typical for influencers to seem very bubbly and positive. But at times, the host’s voice trails off into a vocal fry/creaky whisper and then suddenly starts being loud again. I don’t know if a lavalier mic would help

I've followed you for as long as you've been on KZbin. I was quite disappointed when I heard your comment about old people living in a building where you looked at. You quickly took the comment back, but it sounded like you had to say it instead of that you felt bad about saying it. I'm 63. Your comment was, not necessary. As a matter of fact you could've edited it out. Where do you believe older people should live? I would think anyone who can afford 2,000-2500 for an apartment in NY would have to have a pretty good income. I live in a humble 2 bed 2 bath 2 car garage 5 year old duplex with a patio and a big grass yard. I pay $1,000 per month and that includes the yard work and snow removal. Maybe you could focus on young adult/married buildings. But please don't say that a building isn't to your liking because Senior Citizens live there. It's the same as singling out other groups. It's just not cool. 😉
@dannygrissom14 жыл бұрын
Wow I did not see the same video you saw. I thought she was being very respectful to the senior community by saying it might not be for them. She said "Their were a lot of older people living here and that was lovely that was great" what a nice thing to say but for me being a senior citizen I certainly do not wish to live by young people who are busy with their lives up late in and out at all hours friends over doors opening and closing loud music etc. etc. So thank you for your observations and for moving somewhere else.
@peacefulwife51994 жыл бұрын
@@dannygrissom1 If you begin watching at 15:32 you will hear her comments about "old people". The last thing that was said, "It wasn't the right fit.....because of all the old people". Someday, they will be older. It's just not respectful. 🥺
@foraluckygirl4 жыл бұрын
Señorita of course we love older people, but realistically we have different lifestyles and the building was catered to this - with senior gym classes, a tailor, drop off laundry, post office, and even a shoe cobbler. I really don't understand this fascination with Manhattan. Is expensive and overcrowded. Even the supermarkets and Bodegas are expensive. I don't get it. I live in the Bronx around Morris park. 2 bedroom place for 1500!! A month. 850 sq ft. Quiet area and great neighborhood. No "getthoness". Oh did I mentioned there is plenty of street parking and don't have to move your car??? Take my advice and stay away from Manhattan.

Aw I love Morris Park, but train access to school was a priority and it was awful for us in that neighborhood.

Wait, Mott Haven is the new Brooklyn? Why can’t communities be what they are and not replicate another?
@foraluckygirl4 жыл бұрын
but why? an up and coming neighborhood offers more resources, an increase in small businesses, and improved housing.

@@foraluckygirl as someone impacted by gentrification, this isn't true. Small business start to get priced out because greedy landlords want to raise the rent to bring in "cool" shops. The truth is those that move in and change the neighborhood don't ever stay. The mom and pop shops get displaced and the community is at a loss. I moved to the Hudson Valley 7 years ago and discovered across the river from me in Beacon, NY that was the new Williamsburg..UUGG!!

Am not ashamed to say I tell everyone I know that doesn't live in the Bronx to move somewhere else. I love the Bronx, I've lived here practically since I arrived from the Dominican Republic but I want people to be conscious of the fact that many people in the Bronx are already struggling to make ends meet and while no one would oppose investment in their neighborhoods, the past has shown a clear pattern where those investment ultimately end up pushing people out of their communities. So I understand that even people who can afford to pay $2-2.5k a month are finding it hard to find decent space at that price range in Brooklyn and Manhattan, please understand that those excellent deals (for you) you are finding in cities like the Bronx and Queens come at a great price to others.

Exactly! And they are doing it where I live as well. Moving to Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, and other nearby counties. Pricing people out, opening businesses geared to them with NYC prices. How does that help our communities when you can’t even afford to buy a cup of coffee in their coffee shops or eat in the restaurants they open. They think they’re doing us a favor by opening businesses but it’s nothing people need or can afford. Then after they chase out all the minorities they put up a sign saying “sanctuary city” that’s the hypocrisy of it all. My family came from the Bronx many years ago but people were different then. When they moved to a community, they embraced their way of life because that’s why they moved there. Now they try to change the community to be exactly like where they came from. So why did they move in the first place? I’m with you. Stay where you are!
