NYC Congestion Pricing Delayed Indefinitely by Hochul

New York Governor Kathy Hochul has indefinitely postponed a plan to charge motorists driving into much of Manhattan, upending an initiative that was slated to kick in at the end of the month.
Hochul will potentially replace the tolling plan with a tax on New York City businesses, according to a person familiar with the situation who requested anonymity because the proposal hasn’t been made public.
The governor cited inflation and financial pressures on working class New Yorkers as reasons to not implement congestion pricing.

Cars create congestion. The government taxes cars on registration, inspection, and fuel. All of these taxes are consumption taxes and should adequately pay for road maintenance and expansion. As the number of cars go up, the revenue from taxes goes up. Something is wrong on the other end. Somebody needs to figure out why it costs so much to own a road. Potholes and expansion cannot cost that much. The money is going somewhere.

MTA gets billions already from tolls on all bridges and tunnels. Why haven’t they improved anything yet with all the money they already have? Why is everything still crappy and broken down. MTA is corrupt and someone is siphoning off the money. Need a full audit of their bookkeeping.

Money have been going into mta and friends pocket. Charging ridiculous amount on repairs. Filling a pothole cost $30k per hole. Corruption at the highest and we the tax payers are letting it happen.
