NYC DOT Streets - Permit and Roadway Classifications

NYC DOT streets actually have different permit types, and roadway classifications as well. Any time a roadway has been resurfaced or reconstructed within 5 years, it is considered a "Protected Street". Not only is the NYC DOT Permit fee $250.00 higher, but the Permittee must contact DOT a minimum of 2 hours before they backfill any roadway excavation. If this 2 hour notice is not given, there is actually a $750.00 summons issued to the Permittee.
Of course there are other nuisances in securing permits to work on NYC DOT Streets. There are different roadway types, such as cobblestone and concrete, and painted roadways as well, just to name a few.
