Had a Subaru Outback....don't know why it was so horrible on ice when everyone raves about them. Switched to a Volvo XC60 T6....very safe vehicle....loved it and miss it. Then downsized to Volvo S60 T6....love it too. The newer model Mazdas are getting great reviews....interested in what you guys decide on.

GrampsO says “Go for the Volvo”! Have Volvo salesman increase the residual value, which reduces your monthly lease payment (the good thing) if you’re going to turn it back in at the end of your lease. If you think you want to buy the car at the end of the lease? DON’T! FYI: I bought the Volvo 240 in 86, sold it 10 years later for $4,000 cash. It didn’t have a lot of mechanical problems and the body was in great condition after 10 years. Please, GrampsO pleads you to reconsider????

The new Volvos share nothing with the 240. In December I had to retire my 1990 240DL wagon. 34 winters and 400,000 miles took a toll. The rot was structural. The new ones are complex for the sake of being complex.

The new cars are all cast in the same mould. Would not touch any of them. I also refuse car payments. $2,700 bought me an old lady owned 2004 Toyota Corolla. Dead reliable. Added winter tires, and got through everything with zero issues. The Toyota will be purring when the new carz now will be scrapped because of the cost of repairs to the electronics.
