A New York City man died after being stabbed in a fight that stemmed from not receiving a thank you when he held a door open for the suspect at a smoke shop. The two started fighting in the shop and moved outside where the victim was stabbed in the abdomen and neck before the suspect escaped on an e-bike. WNBC's Adam Harding.

That just goes to show that how something is framed and reported to be can quickly set up a precognitive bias in peoples mind and precondition them so see the events that took place in a certain light. The good thing about this situation is that people were able to actually see for themselves that the "Victim" was actually the 'Aggressor' in this matter. one guy said, "if the other guy sad thank you, none of that would've happened." That's the farthest from the truth. I feel absolutely terrible for this guy, but when people aren't polite to you (which will happen to all of us for the rest of our lives) doesn't mean you call someone out for it, or worse. Lessons learned all around. RIP.

It's entitlement to go out of your way to do something for someone and expect them to say something in return. I get that it's the polite thing to do, but no one is entitled to reciprocate what you did out of your way. I don't get what's happening.

@@KB-kp2oz exactly, unfortunately it's not an obligation to appreciate but its rude and discorteous . Also, the other reason is simply because they are egocentric or arrogant that feels superiority.

the man stabbed is clearly the one in the wrong, also when you do an act of kindness you should not expect any favors in return. so he was twice in the wrong

I hold the door open for people all the time, and never expect a thank you. I’m from Canada though, and people always thank me. If someone didn’t thank me, I doubt very much I’d confront them. Just live your life, and let others live theirs. Now a mother is left heartbroken, because her son didn’t think about the consequences, of confronting a stranger.

Love how TV reduced this situation to "he just wanted to hear thank you, and that's why he died". You can easily see the "suspect" just wanted to drive away.
