My grandfather, who was an American immigrant, proudly served in World War 1 (the Great War) in France. He was a gas victim (either mustard gas or phosgene), came home a veteran - and then worked hard delivering ice up stairs in walk-up flats in New York City. He became ill in the 1940's and died in 1951 at the age of 53 of painful stomach cancer, almost definately due to the effects of the gassing attack, as did thousands of his cohorts. My mum never liked talking about it. I never knew him -- but am proud to be named after him. I am sure he was there or heard of the dedication of this monument when he lived in New York City.

A powerful presentation. I'm glad I listened to it all the way through. Actions and words such as this are the first real steps in bringing our people back together. "Divide and Conquer" are the words of our enemies. To stand up finally and speak out against those who would take us down using our own freedoms for their nefarious plans is gratifying to hear from NYC.
