New York City's largest intake center for asylum-seekers, the Roosevelt Hotel in Midtown, is filled to capacity and migrants are being forced to sleep on the sidewalk. Officials say more than 93,000 asylum seekers have arrived in the city since the spring of last year.

A lady that lives in my building had to take a second job because one of these migrants got her 14 year old daughter pregnant (he's 29, TWENTY. NINE. and said he was 19). he now lives with them and barely knows any English. She tried to get him a job, but he seems to selectively understand the English that he wants to understand when the talk of job hunting comes up. He just shakes his head and says "no" with a confused look on his face. It's absolutely wild to think I actually voted for @dams, only to see that this is what he's done to this city.

I don't know what new laws have passed in the last 10 years, but I worked as a legal assistant for an attorney who did a lot of immigration law. Those applying had to fill out a long form, show proof they had a sponsor who would feed and house them until they could legally get a job here. They had to pass rigid background checks, had to have a physical from a credited doctor saying they were healthy and free of disease. They had to pay several thousand dollars to the government to process their application plus several thousand in legal fees for the attorney to present all this to the government and it was up to two years before they every got a green card to come into the U.S. Now they pay cartels thousands to get them to the border, illegally, get money, an I phone, a stay in a luxury hotel and a plane ride to where they want to go with traveling money on all the taxpayers. Sometimes old ways work a whole lot better.

During "intake" they should be asked why they came to the U.S. They should then be given the asylum application. When they don't find a box that says "for a better life" or "due to economic hardship" or whatever reason they gave, and they check one of the other boxes, that's proof they are lying on a federal form. That's a crime. Deport them immediately and bar them from returning.
