New York City Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Installation 2023 ✨ Holidays in New York City 🌲 (November 11, 2023)
Full Installation of the NYC Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree 2023. The tree is a Norway Spruce which is 80 feet tall and 43 feet wide, weighs 12-ton. This year the tree is coming from came from Vestal, New York.
The tree lighting show is set to kick off at 7 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Nov. 29.
More than 50,000 multi-colored LEDs will be strung over about 5 miles of wire to adorn the 2023 tree. It will then be crowned with a 9-foot, 900-pound Swarovski star covered in 3 million crystals.
How does Rockefeller Center pick a tree?
The public can nominate their own Norway spruces as long as the tree is at least 75 feet tall and 45 feet in diameter. The same man has chosen the tree for three decades. The head gardener for Rockefeller Center, Erik Pauze, scouts, nurtures, and then transports each tree, according to the Rockefeller Center Magazine.

When I was in Rockefeller Center some years ago, I saw some of the branches cut off the tree, and I asked the police officer to give me a branch, which he did! I cut it up and gave it out as presents to each member of the family. They were thrilled! They still them. I think Rockefeller Center could take some of the leftover branches, cut them up, and sell them in small plastic bags for $10. each to benefit some charity. They could raise a small fortune off of the tree waste! It could say, "Rockefeller Christmas Tree 2023". I even mailed some pieces to some friends in Indiana!

Alternatively you could cut some of the smaller branches off a larger one and use rooting powder. Then you can grow and hand out actual saplings. The trees would be genetically identical from the original Christmas tree.

I want to say thank you to all of the people back in New York that was responsible for the big Christmas tree to haul it there and then they had to take the wrap off that said Rockefeller and they had to take the chains off of the tree and then they had to use a crane to raise it up and put it in the stand to make it stand up this was so cool to get to see. And I'm thankful that i have on my phone to record it and i can watch it latter on KZbin now they put the christmas light's on it and at night time it's pretty And the special will be on channel 3 about the tree lighting before Turkey day or after Turkey day with different celebrities on and different music too and it should be good I'm looking forward to watching it By

I spent Christmas there in 1975 stayed there 3 months. Was taking care if Calvin Klein's house on fire island whe the hurricane blew apart Calvin's house the renters brought into the city . What a sight to remember seeing the tree put up. I was at Thanksgiving parade too. Had photos of it all but no longer have them just memories. We had snow too.
