NYC's classic bacon, egg and cheese sandwich costs a lot more

Imagine paying $2.50 for a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich every day on your way to work for years and then suddenly being told the price is now $4.50. Bodega owners say inflation has driven up their costs so they've had no choice but to raise the price on the classic sandwich from the griddle.

Prices always go up and several months after minimum wages go up . People plan to retire at ages 60 to 65 and most will have to still work since retirement pay won't cover their bills and that's if the person even lives to retirement. What's really strange is you never hear about the family of someone whom worked many years getting the money of a family member that died before retirement so where does the money go.... Should go to the spouse or eldest of the children but it just disappears somehow. Question everything.....

Eggs have not doubled in price. Most of these stores use a few cent raises to raise you a few dollars for every sandwich. Stop being lazy people, you can make that in your house in under 5 mins, No waiting, No Tax or Tip for About $1 I'm dead serious. To many people are so used to going to the bodega to pay 4-5 times more for a sandwich. Make it at home for less. If you pay the prices, they will keep pushing them up as much as they can. When they can't sell eggs to bodegas and those eggs go to waste, watch those prices come down. only if people stop paying those price.

Eggs where I live went from $1.69 per dozen to $3.79 overnight a few months ago. If you add up that store's cost on that sandwich, he's making about $1.00, if he's lucky, then the government takes half and the landlord takes the other half.

Yes, rent is high but they are selling hundreds of items, if they were only making a dollar on these sandwiches I would cut my head off. I have friends that own bodegas, that is why they now sell lunch and breakfast as well as dinner. It's a big money maker for them and they make more on those sandwiches then they do on a gallon of milk, bread or a can of beans. They know what they are doing.

NYC was one of the few states to have a lower, more steady inflation rate. Because NYC was already expensive, 5% inflation was normal compared to 8-9% in other states. Once the issue with poultry and egg production happened, the price of eggs and chicken shot up everywhere. Unfortunately, the demand for most products is up, while demand lags behind or cannot keep up with demand. Prices are going to stay high for a while, especially in already expensive places like NYC, LA, Chicago, Miami, Etc.
