NYC Subway HD 60fps: Late Night A Train Action @ 181st Street (2/10/17)

The A train is a main lifeline in NYC. It operates 24 hours from 207 street to Far Rockaway and was made world famous by the Duke Ellington band. Its part of the former IND division of the New York City Transit Authority. there are also some intresting videos of the Chicago Transit Authority trains on Utube from the operators cab. The Chicago lines are designated by color such as The Green line or Blue Lines. Most of their trains operate via the Loop downtown which is a circular El around the downtown Chicago area. We call our trains in New York the subway regardless if the train runs outside or not and in Chicago their generic term is called The El regardless if its underground or running outside.

@@visionist7 The color scheme on the map represents major subway lines in Manhattan by Ave or Street designation. For example the A, C and E individual lines are of the 8th ave line they are all blue on the map. The A is the 8th ave express and the C and E the 8th ave locals. The red line on the map is the 7th ave line which is the 1, 2 and 3 individual lines. The 2 and 3 are the 7th Ave express trains and the 1 is the 7th ave local. 7th ave is the color street designation not just one line itself like in Chicago where you have one Blue line route and one Green line route.

Please explain why that R-68 was on the "A" line. It went up to 27 in service, but came back light. I guess ...my question is, where did it come from ? Are there '68's assigned to Pitkin, Rock Park or 27 Yard now ? ...or was it simply a reroute that was very properly signed that went back to it's home Yard/Layup light ???

This is a daily thing. A R68 or R68A set is borrowed from Concourse Yard for a single round trip on the A in the evening. It departs 207 bound for Far Rock @ 6:47 pm. It turns at Far Rock as the 8:42 pm train back to 207, where it goes out of service and deadheads back to Concourse Yard for the morning rush on the B.

4:58 I always try to see Trains numbered like 9000 or 5000. U got lucky to find R46 6000

5000 is not a subway car number, however 2000, you can catch on the 6, you could catch 7000 ont eh 2 or 5 and you could catch 9000 on the E, F, or R.
