Taken on 2/4/24.
Footage of one of two new R211T sets on the (C) at 86th Street towards Euclid Avenue. Also included is an R68 (D) local train to Coney Island making a stop, an R46 (A) express and R179 (A) local train passing through the station together, and an R211 (A) express train bypassing the station.
Due to a rider needing EMS help onboard a southbound (A) train at 125th Street, (A) and (D) trains were delayed and then subsequently rerouted around the (A) train. The R46 (A) train that shows up in this video was the one involved in the incident. However service later resumed after a while, and so the train was allowed to continue, catching up with its rerouted local counterparts along Central Park West.
The R211 order is slated to replace the R46s in the NYC Subway system and the R44s on the Staten Island Railway. There are several types of R211s, the R211A which is the standard version for the NYC Subway, the R211T which is an open gangway version for the NYC Subway, and the R211S which is the standard version for the SIR. The R211T debuted on the (C) on February 1st. No 30-day test is needed for these trains.
