Hi Sarah, Thank you for your great advice and tips on NYC! I almost feel guilty for taking your information without paying for it. You are pleasant and so knowledgeable about your recently departed city. Hope that you are enjoying your new house in Jersey. Best Wishes, Peter

Just returned from my 2nd trip to NYC. It's so convenient now, cards are accepted everywhere. Food are expensive in NYC. Costs average 15 usd per meal. Loves this place so much. Already thinking about my 3rd trip back.

Maybe $15 to $20 at fast food but diners $20 to $30, a real deli can be a bit more, nice dinner restaurants are a min of $50 without alcohol up to $300 or $400 + for steak and seafood restaurants with wine. The city has great Thai, Indian and other small restaurants which are priced well. The museums like the MET, MOMA are amazing but smaller museums like the Morgan are easy and don’t take a full day. Also the main library on 5th has a new museum piece - which is free. The parks are free. Lots of apt buildings have great city views as well as some city bars have great views. Get a cross body bag and keep in front so you can get in and out easily. I also put important things in an interior coat or jean pocket. Put some cash in a front interior pocket so you don’t need to pull out your wallet. Get money at your bank at home. If someone sees you walk out of an ATM they assume you have cash. Stay away from the Apple store because people get robbed walking out of them. They hope to get a new phone, computer…Use common sense and think steps ahead. Residents have similar issues but aren’t necessarily looking around and confused.

Eat from Walgreens and Duane Reade: those are affordable. Close to Penn Station there is a buffet and in Penn Station there is Subway: very good sandwiches.

Definitely the best information for touring NYC! Thanks. Is it safe to take the Airtrain when the arrival time is 9:10pm? Take it we will need about an hour to collect bags and then get through customs.

If you have a child in school find out what is coming up history wise and visit some places that are rich in US history. Lower Manhattan has a ton of important places. You can do an American doll store in almost every city so don’t waste your time. The city busses have hydraulics so are easier to access than the subways which have constant elevator and escalator breakdowns.

Hello. Can you give me tips / suggestions on how a couple traveling can have nice photos? Afraid to give my phone to strangers and ask them to take our photos. Private photographers might be an option but seem expensive.
