Mohsin, I'm really surprised at your preference. I personally find the weather in London (and UK in general) to be abysmally gloomy. The skies are always overcast and it's always drizzling. NYC gets more rain but it's like a proper downpour followed by clear skies. Also, London gets ~1500 hours of sunshine per year. NYC gets ~2500. That's a big difference. Barring the winters (which some people actually like), I don't see how London weather could be better in any way than NYC's.

I completely disagree on service (been to NY and many US cities, but live in London). I find that you can build a really good rapport with service staff in London and they give you amazing service, will even chat with you for ages if you want and they expect zero tips - that is genuine. I find tipping culture so, so fake.

Having lived in both - NYC is great! Love it but London just wins for nearly all reasons apart from the buzz/food. NYC has an edge on both. That being said, it is cheaper and healthier to eat in London and also NYC buzz is too much at times. Basically, London is just waaay more liveable on a longer term. I missed the prettiness, green and way of life of London after I left, cant say the same for NYC!

To be honest, none of these American or European public transport systems can rival Asia's, noticeably Hong Kong, Tokyo & Singapore. One reason is those Asian cities are more compact & populous, but another thing is their lifestyle. Many residents there prefer public transport, like the underground system instead of private cars (like what Americans do). So, theirs are far more digitalized, clean & efficient (always on time) than the counterpart in NYC or London (besides London trains are dirty compared with HK's or Tokyo's when the NYC is even worse, god don't they hire cleaners?.... those bottles on track). Infrastructure-wise, those Asiatic tourist attraction takes the pie, definitely. If you complaint about the housing cost in NYC or London, again it is nothing compared to those Asian cosmopolises either... Living space is far more sparse... Safety is another issue most people care. NYC & London seem to be just intermediate... Singapore & Japan take the lead, followed by HK. Not sure what other people think about?

That is incorrect. In 2022, 1.013 billion journeys have been recorded on the Subway and 1.001 billion journeys on the Underground. And I do stress the word "recorded" because a Subway fare is not truly a fare, but more of an admission fee to a Subway platform. If a traveller pays a fare at the wrong ticket barrier (uptown instead of downtown, or vice versa) or if the turnstile malfunctions (as they not infrequently do), it will be recorded as a journey (unless they request and successfully obtain a refund, and the journey count is accordingly lowered in the system). Conversely, on the London Underground, for every recorded journey are also recorded the fare amount paid, the start time, the end time, the origin and the destination. Additionally, circumvention of a ticket barrier is also much easier in the NYC Subway than in the London Underground. All this means that the MTA's published numbers are less accurate and reliable than those of TfL and more likely than not higher than the actual numbers. Further, whilst the bulk of intracity rail journeys in NYC are made on the Subway, in London, working in unison with the Underground are the Overground, the DLR and the Trams, which account for another 261 million journeys in 2022. If journeys on the Elizabeth line (which, admittedly, does extend beyond London in both directions) are included, the number jumps to 366 million journeys. Although buses are not mentioned in the video, it is notable that the number of bus journeys in London in 2022 are more than 4 times the number in NYC.

Hi there Lauren, great video! You're one of the few people who actually has genuine long-term experience in both cities. And, hey -- I was born in the Bronx, too! 🙂The bread situation never bothers me living in NYC, as I never buy the kind of bread you're describing. I tend to go to specialty stores (Eataly, Zabar's, Di Palo's, Amy's Bread -- or even Whole Foods) to buy fresh made bread straight out of the oven. But even our local supermarkets have the good kind of bread you're used to in Europe -- just that they're not located in the bread aisle, but rather by the Deli section of the supermarket. The bread aisle is where you find the bagged, sliced bread that is phony and filled with sugar and preservatives. To be sure, those things loosely resemble something akin to "bread" -- and they do have their purpose (peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, mostly) -- but you can also just as easily buy a fresh made sourdough or rye loaf from the numerous bakeries and specialty grocers that are everywhere in Manhattan. The bread scene is not really all that dire here, haha!

New York subway is absolutely filthy, stinks and has terrible signage. The rolling stock is antiquated and uncomfortable. Also London has the DLR, the London overground, London tramways and TFL rail and the network is very integrated with buses and all other transport.

While I love London, the food scene is so overrated. The amount you pay for the tiny portions you get is insane. True about parks being more accessible in London, but you forgot to mention the versatility of NYC's parks too. Prospect Park, Staten Island Greenbelt, Pelham Bay Park, Inwood Hill Park, Fort Tryon Park, Marine Park, Highbridge Park, etc. I think it seems more fair to NYC to include more than just Central Park and the Chelsea highline

This was a good video I just want to add extra things being from the "ghetto" in London born in woolwich south London if there was ONE place in America that is comparable to LDN it would definitely be NYC, NYC really ressembles LDN with energy, fashion, gang culture, concerts, Drill music *(which LDN inspired NYC Drill style)* etc without a doubt the only thing is NYC is just more popular and NYC buildings are much more updated and modern whilst the majority of buildings in LDN are old asf *(from the outside)* . Im from LDN and I've been to NYC in 2018 and I felt very comfortable like I was back home in LDN and compared to the rest of American city's, just like LDN, NYC is very cultured and diverse and people know where they are from and almost everybody is from a country outside the US.

Just a few more things to add you missed out that grocery shopping in New York is a joke whereas in London its way cheaper also there are more cheap places to eat out and the tax and tips in New York make it just so expensive I don't think it worth it, definitely more expensive than London. Homelessness I notice is a huge problem in New York whereas London not so bad and they leave you alone. Apartments in New york some don't even have any light and they are smaller in general the housing situation is a joke! I prefer the architecture in London its more beautiful in my opinion. More museums are free in London and anyone can visit them, in New York they mostly let only locals get free entry and tourists pay, London is much cleaner New York has so many rats its disgusting. I would have to say in New York what I feel is better is that there are so many free events with open bar which you would not get in London and the weather sorry the weather in New York is way better with more sunny days. Bike rental in New York is better than London as they are good quality and quite cheap. Another big thing missed was that salaries in New York are just so much better than London in general I would make double there than I would in London and they pay less tax. Oh last point the other thing I like in New York are the different neighbourhoods their China Towns are way better than in London there are like 4 and its really being in china, there are so many other towns that we don't get in London like Korea town, japan town, greek, ukranian, italian the list goes on. Most other things you say I agree and great vid!

London underground is very bad in summers. It gets really hot and the air quality is bad too. It's not ventilated. There are gaps in the windows to let the outside air in. Some of the lines with new trains are better though. IMHO, I really like New Delhi metro to top both Nyc Subway and London tube.

I lived in London liked it but GREEN SPACE was I why i LEFT! Yes, there are loads of parks, but nowhere where you can really get out fo the city atmosphere and be lost in nature by yourself even outside the city. For someone who needs nature it's a no no. My intention isn’t to normalise it, I was just stating a fact that it was part of my experience there. I don’t know why it’s thing there but it is - I guess living there long enough it just becomes white noise that you tune out. Obviously not ideal but that’s the way it was 🤷🏻‍♀️ Hopefully it changes. Neither. I would avoid both cities! Poor quality of life for most/all people living in the centre.........better to live in the suburbs/outskirts for the healthier/happier life
