I almost cried at the end. One of the most beautiful works ever written for viola, and with the wonderful performance of Kim Kashkashian

I already commented on this piece, but I can't get over how awesome she is. Her sound and her phrasing are just spectacular. I'm a violist and I feel she really is the best of the best. She's my gold standard.

remarkable. Britten's music and this expressive performance had me pinned to the screen. I just wish it went on longer. Beautiful warm and clear recorded sound too. A new favorite.

This is such a brilliant, challenging piece, for performers and audience alike. I am so impressed by the way Kim Kashkashian uses her bow--movement that is almost like that of a painter.

She;s maybe the greatest living violist-- at least in my opinion. She has spectacular technique and she can be really fiery when the music calls for it, yet she's also extremely thoughtful-- really approaches the music with great care and scholarship.

Thank you for listening. This is a great piece with a few very tricky moments. Kim Kashkashian did an amazing job delivering the color and character.

coming to this from perhaps too-frequent hearings of Shostakovich trios/quartets/quintets. And now I'm trapped in a loop of Britten re-listen sessions. Nice trap to be stuck in, IMHO.

Great player - imagination, phrasing and tone are wonderful. But, where are the piano, and pianissimo effects? Even at the end, with the equally voiced consort passage in p, and pp, she plays in a relentless solo fashion. Too bad, as it loses the connection to the affect of the Dowland song which inspired this composition.
@maxmaxi21115 жыл бұрын
Great sound and amazing technique doesn’t mean necessarily good performance . Most of the Tempi and dynamics are wrong or at least not faithful to the composer’s wishes. A very “physical “ interpretation, but I doubt that it’s what this piece needs
