In my study of the piece I caught this and was pleasantly delighted to see how Britten incorporated that tidbit of fun into his piece. Great catch!

The dedicatee is Britten's teacher - Audrey Alston. I guess the BB composition dedicated to AA was the inspiration for the names.

The "simple" is because each movement is based on simple themes and melodies he had created as a child. Yes, you are right, though: it is not simple!
