That explosion made me JUMP!!! In fact it was so good that I had to watch it over again. I can't believe the amount of wipes that came out. in the NYC area the vent pipe is usually about knee high in the garden. IOW, where you can see it. Obviously it's broken off and removed.

That's called a pro vent which is usually installed near a sink or washer, this one was just missing the pipe , not sure if you can see the clamp next to the stairs in the video I'm sure that was holding with vent once upon a time. Thanks again 👍

if the back-flow valve malfunctions it can be a big job and might require digging up the floor. I understand the NYC area has a lot of these to prevent sewers from backing up into the house during high use periods or when storms raise ground water. It seems that parts of NY still have storm drains cross connected to sewer drains and their pipes can't handle the capacity. BTW, that vent is usually about knee high in the garden. Not sure why they don't go up to roof level.
