Must admit, I have been waiting for the big rush on ebay cacti growers having overspent on Christmas and that resulting in me getting some bargains. Only trouble is I'm starting to seriously run out of room to put more cacti! I'm at about 600 now, fortunately about 200 are fairly small or recently rooted pups.

Space is a never ending problem and even if you do conquer that issue... the next issue is time. Always a good idea to curate your own collection, look through and see which plants you aren't vibing with any more and find them a new home.

what sort of rootstock would you recommend for grafting astrophytums?

Select stock that is suitable to your climate. If something grows well in your area, it will make for good stock. Pick something that is fast growing and tough.
