As a 54 years old Hmong man, I had lived my life. I love my two grown daughters like crazy, but I genuinely believe they can earn their own money for their debts. Your kids will get married and live their lives with their own turns on the education level they earned. Your greediness takes you and your wife nowhere, and your journey to death shows that you have no true love for your wife. You do not appreciate her sacrifice in the partnership of life you both struggle together. Also, in making the total money you both save and recoup together from life insurance & housing investment. All you do is FEAR that your wife will remarry someone else because you know that if the role is reversed - you will take on very quickly for a new woman and flash out the 1 million assets you mentioned! You are SUPER SELFISH to leave her behind with just 100K. To me, this amount of money is minimal for your wife to fully enjoy her life after you die! Wow....your story is sad but at the same time depressing in so many ways. Depressing because you don't think about the commitment and love your wife has dedicated to you. To this man: If you love your wife, you would not be concerned about what she will do with the money but who will really take care of her like you did when you're gone. You should be glad that you both build a successful life together and the money you both saved even if you didn't live life to the fullest while you can, at least you leave them behind knowing that they will be well taken care of and you have done a great job as a father to your children and a husband to your wife. To do what you did to your wife, stripped her of all the success you both build together is very selfish and cruel. Your sob story touches many hearts until the part where you decided to leave your wife with practically nothing because you are jealous that she may find happiness again after you leave this world. Your biggest life regret is not what you didn’t do while you are alive. It will be what you did to your wife when you’re on your death bed. Your wife is the person who has shared every sorrow and joy with you. Whose hands, body and sweat contributed to the accumulation of your marital assets. Stripping her of everything because of your jealousy rage that once you’re gone she will find love again is truly petty and self-centered. You never once considered how hard life with be for her when you’re not around. She spent the best of her years earning and saving with you and now you want to leave her financially strap after you died. If you truly love someone and you know you are not going to be around; you would ensure their financial comfort if you had the means to do so. You’re too selfish and self-centered and wasted your last breaths destroying the one person who bear half of life’s burden with you. I believe these decisions will become your greatest life regrets.

I am all for setting up financial funds and getting legal papers together for matters like this. We do not see the future so please put your trust in good faith ppl and set things up for yourself, your children, and your spouses. Do it when you are still mentally able and can coherently understand what you are doing. You never know who is the tiger lurking in the tall grass waiting to jump at you because you inherited large sums of funds or assets from a decease love one.

Sorry this guy has an illness that's probably not curable but dang he really is sour about what his wife is gonna have or do once he is gone. Shouldn't he be worried that his kids will all move on and have lives of their own..they will leave the nest and leave his wife who will have no one so yes she will probably find another partner. Women usually take it slow to find another partner where as men can't even wait the gravestone is place and the grass is green. We buy life insurance to ensure that our surviving spouse is taken care of. What she does with it is on her.

My husband and I will be changing our life insurance, pension and 401k from what we had designated when we were younger to when we hit our early 50s. When we were younger, everything was divided evenly with our children and spouse left behind. We feel that as we are older..the remaining spouse will need the financial help. As the children will be in their prime, we've taught them to provide for themselves. Each child will still get some money but the bulk of it will go to the remaining spouse.

The lesson here is to live your life fully, love with no regrets, leave your legacy, no guarantees for tomorrow. This man is still selfish and ignorant in his thinking that all he focused on when he found out he was sick is to deprive his wife (of his whole life) of assets before he dies so he can be relieved she won’t give it to another man. He sold his homes so she can be homeless. Is that love? He still hasn’t learned, that’s his selfish love for himself. She built that life with him and deserves half of if not everything. I’m sure you never loved her the way a women should have been. Sorry but not really sorry since you still do not know what love is. 100k and more than half will be for your funeral. Give her more respect and credit for loving you. Even with death looming, the bitterness and truth of your heart comes out. So sad for you as you are sick but even more for your wife as she has to face the future of reality and what you’ve set her up for.

Smart man. It's good that u divided your money among your kids and wife. It's not like she is not getting a penny. U left her some money and assets too. Every dying person wish. What I don't understand is that folks don't learn from other people experiences and live life to the fullest until it's too late. We can't take any valuable with us but the memories. Invest in trips and a good quality camera and go! Take every picture you can and go everywhere with your camera. Don't wait until your dying days to start capturing those memories and making time for each other. Even if the trip is a day, a week, or a month do it while you still can. Try out new food and experience because money can always be made and money will come when you have good health.

Damn this man, you are too selfish even during a critical time when you need to help your wife financially. Initially and I believe when you first work hard and buy life insurance, they are for you or your wife if one of you goes early. Your kids should be the second to receive the benefits not the first. When you go you don't feel anything but your wife will be the one in pain and grief. This is not fair at all. You even rather donate your money to charities but left $100,000 for your wife out of more than a $1,000,000 plus. I think you should give at least half of what you two have to your wife. Hope it's not too late for you to do the right thing! If the role is reversed, I believe you wife would leave everything to just you.

uncle... I am so sorry for your situation. I understand you completely. I've woeked hard all my life and saved and saved. This year my ex huband left me for a young girl overseas and soend thousands on her. I divorced him and split half my assets. I have cancer and am battling it too. I look at my beautiful big house and its just a house. The money in the bank is just a number. As I laid on the hospital bed getting ready for surgery, my life flashed before my eyes. I am glad i ate well, travellef with friends, loved family and extended familes. The only thing is overseas traveling. There are so many things to see and do. My kids will all be 18 in a few years. I felt like I have a lot of time left, but thst was just an Illusion. We can only do things i the time we have left. Best wishes to you.
