Awesome looking fry pattern Shawn 👍 I love the way you built a taper. You certainly achieved a baitfish profile. Thanks again!

Been waiting for this one! So pumped to try it I’m thinking it will be a good pattern in my area. Thanks for the vid

Glad you like it! I have caught fish with it already, but coming up in March/April this will do great on my local river as well. The trout hatch at that time (roughly) , and there are tons of these little frys moving about. It will destroy the big browns who target the baby rainbows.

Thanks for this! I had first seen a similar fly to this last November at the Trois-Rivières Fly show (Québec). I've been tying a simpler version just with tinsel on the shank and either a marabou tail or a two rubber legs as the tail. Both version catch fish. I like your variation a lot. I will be incorporating peacock herl (always a winner IMHO).

Ha thanks! So I think I came up with this idea like 3 years ago, video here was 2 years or so ago... I wasn’t the first person to come up with a nymphing baitfish fry though, there have been a few others to do it.

I've been sorta Bing watching your vids lately as I play around tying flies. I think this is my favorite pattern of yours. I really like it by but of course I'll change it a bit and swap foam for lead for a slower sink rate
@McFlyAngler4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Let me know how well it catches for you. And for sure, the beauty of tying is custom making flies to your own needs.

Nice, reminds me of a "surf candy".
@McFlyAngler6 жыл бұрын
Yeah sorta huh? A tad different though. I have tied many of those, in fact I have a few video's. Including a surf candy that has weight, and swims hook point up. Check that one out if you havent before. Either way, I think this is going to be a trout killer on my local river come March/April.

Ha! You could use 6/0 if you wanted. I just don’t tie tight, since it’s covered in resin
